If there’s one thing we know about pirates, it’s that rum tends to disappear quickly when they’re around. But good news. Disney is opening a NEW pirate tavern, and it’s fully stocked with all the spirits (and non-alcoholic drinks) a weary adventurer may need. The Beak and Barrel tavern opens on August 29th, but we scouted ahead and got a first look inside. Drop anchor!

The Beak and Barrel has a menu filled with hearty food and creative cocktails. Oh, and there’s a souvenir mug, too. Similar to Oga’s Cantina in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, this spot accepts advance dining reservations. But enough blabbering — let’s dive in!
Welcome to The Beak and Barrel! The restaurant is located, fittingly, next to the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction in Adventureland in Magic Kingdom.

There is a maximum of two drinks per person, and guests must be 21 years or older to consume alcohol. The experience is limited to 45 minutes per party as the capacity is just 154 guests and with all of the shenanigans happening in an enclosed space with low lighting levels and lively activity.

Reservations are highly encouraged and can be made through the My Disney Experience app. In order to enjoy the tavern, guests will need valid park admission and park reservations (if required) for Magic Kingdom

Once you step inside, you’re immediately met with a dark, cozy dining room filled with evidence that pirates frequent this spot. There are cannonball-shaped holes in the wall, pirate flags, and lots and lots of barrels (probably filled with RUM!).

You might even spot a pirate that had a bit too much fun last night…

We also spotted some really fun ads up in the tavern. Anyone up for some lessons at Walk the Plank Swim School?

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Pirates of the Caribbean lounge without some good ‘ol pirate ships. But these aren’t just any pirate ships — every 7-8 minutes, a different aspect of the lounge comes alive, including these ships breaking into battle with each other!

Don’t forget to look up, too! Anchors away!

The largest space in The Beak and Barrel is The Mess, where you can dine and have a drink or two! It was once a mess hall for Spanish soldiers, but now the pirates have turned it into their own. Be sure to look up to see the bell that Captain Redd’s first ship gifted to Merry at the opening of the lounge, the mermaid windows, and the anchor covered in candles. What remains of The Brig is also left in the corner with its original framework, though the door has been pried off and sits to the side.

Next up is The Cursed Bar, which is shaped like a skull! At its center is the Enchanted Rum Bottle that was gifted by a powerful enchantress. As long as the bottle stays full, the barrels of the tavern will never run empty. Rummy, the resident parrot at the bar, also pops up near the bar every now and then, so keep your eyes peeled (and fun fact: the skill eye with the patch is Rummy’s home!). There’s also a cat that lives in a nearby barn that Rummy is not a fan of, but we’ve yet to catch a glimpse of him yet!

The Captains’ Quarters used to be the residence of the Spanish Comandante, but the rich drapery and artwork have now been slashed and burned by the pirates who have taken over. The center of the space is an elegant fireplace with multiple ships in bottles on top. Keep an eye on them, though — there’s a rumor they start to move and battle with each other!

If you’re looking for some more space to sit with your group, the four Captains’ Booths are a great place to go. Each one tells the stories of pirates and their adventures who came before, so don’t forget to look at the details! There’s also a private sitting room further into the space where pirates take part in their favorite games. Keep an eye out for signs of past matches — they’re there!

Finally, we have The Mapmaker’s Room! It’s filled to the brim with maps of all kinds, spilled ink, and secrets that belong to the mapmaker. Gather around the table to see the tools used, and stare at the map on the wall in an attempt to discover its secrets.

Want to see the video Disney released of the space? Check it out below! There’s so much to explore in this space — in fact, every 7-8 minutes something new will begin moving or interacting in the space, so you’ll want to pay close attention to watch the space really come alive.
@disneyparks Ahoy! Welcome to The Beak and Barrel at Walt Disney World ☠️ ? #DisneyEats #DisneyParks #MagicKingdom #DisneyWorld
The menu is split up into eight sections, including things like Reserve Rum Selections, Signature Cocktails, Non-Alcoholic Specialty Beverages, and snacks “From the Galley.”

You can choose from a couple of food options, like Island Provisions.

And there are also two non-alcoholic beverages available, including the Treasure Trove.

Of course, the Signature Cocktails section is what makes this spot special.

The drinks include options like the $20 Salty Seas mARRRgarita (Lalo Blanco Tequila, Cointreau Liqueur, Ube, and Lime)

Or the Siren’s Whisper (Pot & Column Still White Rum Blend, Bols Blue Curaçao Liqueur, Combier Crème de Pêche de Vigne Liqueur, Lime, and Cinnamon).

The big-ticket item, though, is the Plunderer’s Punch, a $46 drink made with The Kraken Black Spiced Rum, Blackberry, Lime, and Vanilla served in a souvenir pirate skull mug.

There is also a selection of wine, draft beer, and bottled and canned beverages.
