You could come up with a million different ways to spend your first hour in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, but I’m spilling the secrets on my favorite one.
By taking a left towards Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, you can set yourself up for success every time. Let’s get into it!
Since Rise of the Resistance is such an iconic ride and a must-do in my book, it’s usually the attraction I head to first thing in the morning…along with half of the park. However, that ride has a reputation for breaking down. If it’s closed when the park opens, that can feel like your entire plan just fell apart.
Instead of scrambling or doom-scrolling the app while crowds pour in, you’re steps away from Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, which regularly posts super reasonable waits first thing in the morning — sometimes shockingly low. You still get a headliner attraction under your belt, you stay ahead of the crowds, and you keep that rope drop momentum going. Win, win, win!
That’s not all. By the time you pilot the Falcon and step back into Batuu, there’s a chance Rise of the Resistance has reopened. It’s not guaranteed, but it’s worth checking the My Disney Experience app to see if you should hop in line. If you’re staying at a Disney hotel and using Early Entry, you’ve got an even sneakier power move. After Smugglers Run, you can hustle over to Slinky Dog Dash in Toy Story Land and jump in line before the park opens to everyone. Since Slinky Dog Dash is notorious for building some of the longest waits in Hollywood Studios, knocking it out early can feel like you just saved yourself an hour (or more) later in the day. There is truly no better Disney feeling than realizing your morning plan is working perfectly, is there?!
