How to BEAT the Long Spring Break Wait Times in Disney World

Spring Break continues to bring more people to Disney World.

That means high ride wait times could continue to be the reality until the Spring Break travel season is over. And while you might be avoiding the parks at this time, if you are there, there are a few things you can do to prevent spending your entire trip standing in line.

The first thing you can do is purchase Genie+ to access rides’ Lightning Lanes, but that can get pretty pricey, especially if you have more than a few people in your party. During this Spring Break season, we’ve seen Genie+ get up to $35 per person per day. Genie+ has also been selling out a LOT this month EARLY, so it might not even be an option if you don’t purchase it quickly enough.

If you want to make sure you can buy and use Genie+, try to purchase it as early as possible — it becomes available to buy on midnight of the day of your trip.

But, remember that Genie+ doesn’t include some of the more popular rides. For those, you’d need to pay an additional fee to skip the standby line through Individual Lightning Lane (pay-per-ride). The prices for these can also get quite high, so be sure to adjust your budgets accordingly.

What can you do if you don’t want to fork out the dollars for Genie+ or it’s sold out for the day? Well, you can take advantage of rope drop — a.k.a. get to the parks before they even open to be one of the first guests let in — or, even better, Early Theme Park Entry if you’re a Disney World hotel guest. Getting to the parks early can help you hit those high-priority rides first thing in the morning when wait times can be lower.

Another option is to stick around until later at night when some wait times can also drop. And if you’re staying at a Deluxe Disney World Hotel, Deluxe Disney Villa, or select other hotels, you can take advantage of Extended Evening Hours to stay in the parks beyond their closing time.

And finally, you can study the wait times. By looking at the times and at what point of the day your favorite ride had its lowest wait, you can better plan when to visit it.
