Why Every Disney Adult Is Suddenly Booking a Trip to Magic Kingdom in September

It’s not just the Florida heat pulling Disney Adults to Magic Kingdom in September — there’s a brand-new reason.

A brand-new Pirates of the Caribbean-themed lounge is officially opening in Adventureland, and it’s got Disney fans rearranging vacation plans. The Beak and Barrel promises immersive theming, storytelling, and specialty cocktails that tie directly into the world of Pirates of the Caribbean. We’ve gathered all the details so you know exactly why this spot is about to become the most in-demand reservation at Magic Kingdom.

The Big Debut

Disney officially confirmed that The Beak and Barrel will open its doors on August 29th, 2025. Advance Dining Reservations open August 20th, and Disney Adults everywhere are marking their calendars.

This isn’t just another place to grab a drink. It’s the first lounge of its kind inside Magic Kingdom, and it extends the story of Pirates of the Caribbean in a way we haven’t seen before. You’ll get storytelling, interactive moments, themed spaces, and even a familiar face (well…feathers).

The Story

Disney Imagineering built the lounge around the tale of Captain Meridian “Merry” Goldwyn, a legendary rumrunner who decided to settle down and open a lively pirate pub. Her first mate, Rummy, serves as the quartermaster of the tavern. You’ll see him perched above the lounge keeping watch, occasionally greeting guests, and maybe even leading a toast.

Longtime Pirates fans will notice that Rummy bears a strong resemblance to the original Barker Bird—who once sat outside the ride entrance before flying the coop years ago. His return in a new form has longtime fans buzzing. Disney described the lounge as a “welcoming haven for all pirate-kind, big and small,” so whether you’re looking for a family-friendly spot or a place to enjoy an after-park cocktail, this tavern is designed to fit both vibes.

The Setting

The Beak and Barrel isn’t one room—it’s three completely different spaces, each with its own personality.

The Mess

This is the main dining hall, once a mess hall for Spanish soldiers, now turned pirate hangout. You’ll find long tables perfect for groups, candles stuffed into a giant anchor chandelier, and a large back bar cobbled together from a cursed shipwreck.

The real showpiece here is the Enchanted Rum Bottle, a gift from Tia Dalma that now powers the tavern’s specialty brews. Keep an eye out for Rummy, who makes appearances along the bar ledge.

The Captains’ Quarters

If The Mess is rowdy, the Captains’ Quarters is refined—well, at least as refined as pirates get. This space used to belong to a Spanish commander, but pirates have left their mark with sword slashes, scorch marks, and stolen portraits.

Each booth tells the story of a different pirate lord, and above the fireplace you’ll spot bottles containing miniature ships that sometimes come to life for a battle of their own. Fans of Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto will definitely recognize the interactive style.

The Mapmaker’s Room

This room is tucked away to the side of the main bar. Pirates blasted their way in years ago, leaving cannonballs lodged in the walls and debris scattered around. It’s smaller and more intimate, perfect for guests who want to feel like they’ve stumbled onto a hidden hideout.

And yes, there’s also a curated list of beer, wine, and high-end rum for the collectors.

The Entertainment

This isn’t a “sit quietly and sip” kind of lounge. Disney confirmed there will be sing-alongs, storytelling, and surprise moments throughout your visit. If you’ve ever been to Oga’s Cantina or Trader Sam’s, you know what that means—drinks that trigger effects, songs breaking out across the room, and that extra layer of magic that makes you want to come back again and again.

The Merchandise

The lounge is also getting exclusive merch. The Plaza del Sol Caribe Bazaar will carry a Beak and Barrel t-shirt featuring Rummy and a brand-new Rummy shoulder pal. If you’ve ever wanted to take a parrot home from Adventureland, this is your chance.

How to Visit

Disney is placing a 45-minute limit on visits to The Beak and Barrel. That’s short, but it’s also a sign of just how popular this spot is expected to be. Advance Dining Reservations will open the week of August 18th, 2025, and like other lounges, they’ll book quickly. If this is on your must-do list, plan ahead. You’ll also want to build your park day around it since the lounge is located in Adventureland, just steps away from Pirates of the Caribbean.

Why Disney Adults Are Booking Now

This isn’t just a lounge. It’s the first time Magic Kingdom has added a full-on themed bar experience inside the park, and it’s built around one of the most beloved attractions Disney has ever created.

Pirates of the Caribbean

So if you’ve been wondering why your Disney Adult friends are suddenly checking hotel availability for September, now you know. The Beak and Barrel is the reason—and it’s looking like one of the hottest openings Disney World has seen in years.

  1. Sorry but even the graphic of Merry holding the telescope with one hand, her right hand while looking through with her left eye makes the pirate-ness seem foolish. I’ll go but I expect little.
