Early Entry at Magic Kingdom is already one of the smartest ways to get a head start on your park day, and now it’s getting a pretty noticeable upgrade.

A fan-favorite attraction is officially returning, and it’s bringing even more value to those early morning minutes. If you’ve been planning your rope drop strategy, this change could shift everything. Here’s what’s happening, how Early Entry works, and why this update matters for your next Disney World trip.
Buzz Lightyear Is BACK and Joining Early Entry
After months behind construction walls, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is officially reopening on April 8th, and it’s not just coming back quietly. It’s joining the Early Entry lineup right away.

This isn’t just a simple refresh, either. The ride has received updated ride vehicles, enhanced blasters, refreshed targets, and even a brand-new opening scene featuring a new animatronic named BUDDY. Disney has also polished the show scenes to make the experience feel more modern and interactive.

For Early Entry guests, this is a big deal. Space Ranger Spin has always been a popular Tomorrowland ride, especially for families and competitive groups. Adding it to the early morning lineup gives you another solid option to knock out before the regular crowds flood in.
What Early Entry Actually Is
If you’re newer to Disney planning or just need a refresher, Early Theme Park Entry is one of the most valuable perks available at Disney World.

Guests staying at Disney Resort hotels and select partner hotels can enter any of the four theme parks 30 minutes before official opening every single day of their stay, including both check-in and check-out days. That may not sound like a huge window, but in practice, it’s often enough time to ride one or even two major attractions with significantly shorter wait times.
Who Qualifies for Early Entry
To access Early Entry, you need to be staying at a Disney-owned resort hotel or one of the approved partner properties on Disney World property.

That includes deluxe resorts like Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, as well as value and moderate resorts. The price category does not matter, which makes this perk accessible across a wide range of budgets.
There are also several non-Disney hotels that qualify, including:
- Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel
- Walt Disney World Swan Hotel
- Walt Disney World Swan Reserve
- DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Orlando
- Drury Plaza Hotel Orlando Lake Buena Vista
- Four Seasons Resort Orlando
- Hilton Orlando Buena Vista Palace
- Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista
- Holiday Inn Orlando
- Renaissance Orlando Resort and Spa
- Shades of Green at Walt Disney World Resort
- Signia by Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek
- Waldorf Astoria Orlando
- Wyndham Garden Lake Buena Vista
- Wyndham Lake Buena Vista
If you’re staying at any of these, you’re eligible to take advantage of that early access.
How Early Entry Works at Magic Kingdom
Using Early Entry is pretty straightforward, but timing is everything.

You’ll need a valid park ticket for the day and a linked hotel reservation in your My Disney Experience account. Once you arrive at the park, you’ll scan in like normal.

At Magic Kingdom, guests are often allowed to start entering the park about 45 minutes before Early Entry officially begins. So if the park opens at 9AM, Early Entry starts at 8:30AM, and tapstiles may begin scanning guests around 7:45AM.

After scanning in, only eligible guests can move beyond the checkpoints into lands like Tomorrowland and Fantasyland. Cast Members will verify access before letting you through. From there, you can head straight to your first attraction and get in line.

Guests without Early Entry will be held in the Main Street, U.S.A. and hub areas until closer to the official park opening.
The Full Early Entry Ride Lineup
With the return of Space Ranger Spin, Magic Kingdom’s Early Entry lineup is looking pretty stacked.
Here’s what’s typically available:
- “it’s a small world”
- Astro Orbiter
- Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin
- Dumbo the Flying Elephant
- Mad Tea Party
- Mickey’s PhilharMagic
- Peter Pan’s Flight
- Prince Charming Regal Carrousel
- Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
- Space Mountain
- The Barnstormer
- The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
- Tomorrowland Speedway
- Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover
- Under the Sea ~ Journey of The Little Mermaid
- Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress
That’s a mix of headliners and classic attractions, which gives you flexibility depending on your priorities.
Another Change Is Coming This Summer
As if adding another ride wasn’t enough, from May 26th through September 8th, Early Entry guests will be able to meet a rotating group of Disney characters before the park opens to the general public.

This is important to note because it could subtly change how people approach their mornings. Some guests who usually sprint to rides might shift their focus to character meet and greets instead, which could impact wait times at certain attractions in those first 30 minutes. It adds another layer of strategy, especially for families who want those lower wait times for character interactions.
Why This Update Matters
Adding Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin to Early Entry may seem like a small change on paper, but it’s actually a pretty meaningful upgrade.

It helps to spread crowds more evenly across Tomorrowland, give families another high-capacity ride option, and adds variety to your early morning plan. Combined with the upcoming character meet opportunities, Early Entry is becoming more than just a ride advantage. It’s turning into a customizable head start to your day. And if you’re staying at an eligible hotel, this perk just became even more valuable.

Early Entry continues to be one of the smartest ways to maximize your time at Magic Kingdom, and this latest update proves Disney is still investing in making it better. Between returning attractions and new experiences, those first 30 minutes are starting to pack a serious punch.
