“Where Is Everyone?” We Were SHOCKED By the Disney World Holiday Crowds

Summer is right around the corner, and that means that Disney is starting to get very busy!

Magic Kingdom on Memorial Day

Those intense crowds usually start right now with Memorial Day weekend. Every year, this weekend is SO crowded. However, the current Disney World crowds might surprise you.

We were in Magic Kingdom today, and we were shocked to see that the crowds weren’t that bad!

Memorial Day Crowds

All throughout the parks, we noticed typical crowd levels and nothing too wild, as you might expect on a holiday weekend. We took a peek at the wait times around all four parks, and for the most part, it’s nothing out of the ordinary.

Memorial Day Wait Times

TRON and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train were both under an hour, and Slinky Dog Dash was 70 minutes, which is pretty standard, maybe even a little bit low for these attractions. Of course, there were a few attractions with really long lines.

And while 140 minutes is obviously a very long wait for Flight of Passage, that is really the only ride we are seeing with a lengthy wait time, and a lot of that is most likely due to the current limited ride options over at Animal Kingdom.

Main Street Crowds

These low crowds are shocking; however, they most likely do not reflect a trend for the rest of the summer. Those crowds are coming, and they are coming soon.

Fantasy Land is not that busy!

However, if you’re planning a trip to Disney in the summer and this idea of crowds is scaring you, don’t worry! There is a lot you can do to make the most out of your magical Disney vacation, even with big crowds.

YIKES!

First, we always recommend rope dropping. Rope drop is the first few hours after the park opens and tends to have some of the day’s lowest crowds. While we think that rope drop is beneficial for everyone, it’s especially helpful if you are staying at a Disney hotel. This is because Disney hotel guests get 30 minutes early entry to the parks.

While 30 minutes may not seem like a lot, it is a huge help for setting you up for success and usually allows you to ride one or two popular rides before the park even opens! Another great tool is Lighting Lane Single Pass or Multi Pass, Disney’s skip-the-line service that lets you avoid some of those long lines.
