The massive Disney World construction process is about to close another attraction after this month.

One of the big projects that will be coming to Disney World in a few years (although there is no official timetable) is the transformation of DinoLand U.S.A. into the Tropical Americas-themed Pueblo Esperanza at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The land has been slowly closing parts of it one at a time, and the time is almost up for this attraction. Let’s take a look!
The popular playground, The Boneyard, will close permanently on September 2nd, 2025. That means the last day for your kiddos to cross rope bridges, climb through mysterious caves, and hurl down twisting slides will be September 1st. The playground was a go-to spot for kids 10 and under to let out some energy and explore.

Like we mentioned, this closure is a part of the process to transform Animal Kingdom’s DinoLand U.S.A., as it’s re-themed into Pueblo Esperanza, a celebration of the Tropical Americas. Dinoland U.S.A. has been closing in chunks, rather than everything at once. The new Tropical Americas land draws inspiration from Disney’s Encanto and Indiana Jones.

It started with the closure of TriceraTop Spin, the Fossil Fun Games, and Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures. Those closed earlier this year on January 12th, so it’s been a while till this next closure. Boneyard will follow the process on September 1st, and then Dinosaur will be last — although that won’t happen until sometime in 2026.

So, the question remains, will there be another place for kids to play in this new land? The answer is an exciting YES! Disney has confirmed that we can expect a NEW play area to be built within Pueblo Esperanza, which will provide little ones with the same opportunity to burn some of that extra energy.

There hasn’t been an announcement on what the specific theme for the play area will be, and it’ll be tough to say bye to the playground for the little paleontologists. That being said, we’re excited to see what’s on the horizon!

We can’t wait to see what this new land will look like in person. It’s going to feature an amazing dining experience and two E-Ticket attractions — one themed to Encanto, and the other to Indiana Jones.

The area will also feature a large fountain in the center and a carousel featuring some of our favorite animals from Disney stories. Is it sad to see a classic like Dinosaur go? Yes. However, it’s hard not to be on the edge of our seats in anticipation of this brand-new land.

If you have little ones, the Boneyard may have been a go-to spot for you and your kids. It’s tough to say goodbye, but at least there will be a new playground once the land opens up. Make sure to complete your last adventures by September 1st. For more Disney news and updates, be sure to stay tuned to AllEars.
