If You’re Not Rope Dropping This Disney World Park, You’re Doing It Wrong

The idea of rope dropping in Disney World might not appeal to everyone, and we get it. The last thing you want to do on vacation is get up early and be at the parks before they open, so you can be among the first to ride attractions in the parks.

​Here’s the thing, though. You know the old saying about how the early bird gets the worm? Well, in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, it’s true because rope drop will get you some of the shortest wait times for rides of the entire day, including on some of the most popular rides in Disney World.

For example, if you’d been at rope drop yesterday at Hollywood Studios, your longest wait time would have been for Rise of the Resistance, one of Disney World’s most popular rides. That wait, though, was only 25 minutes. Other wait times were even lower. Slinky Dog Dash and Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway were just at 10 minutes, while Tower of Terror only had a 13-minute wait.

Those waits were around for part of the morning, but by 11 AM, the waits jumped way up. Tower of Terror was at 65 minutes by then. So it just goes to show that getting up early on a Disney World vacation is worth it. If you get tired, you can always head back to the hotel around midday and sneak in a nap (one of my personal favorite things to do).
