A Huge Perk Is Now MISSING From Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

We’ve got some bad news for those staying at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort in the next month, because a HUGE hotel perk has been temporarily suspended due to construction.

Boat dock restoration in progress!

One of the best parts about staying at the Polynesian is being so close to Magic Kingdom, yet having multiple different transportation options to get there. You can hop on the Monorail, even walk to the park, if you’d like, or you can take a boat. Well, that last one isn’t an options anymore right now, because for the next MONTH, transportation from the boat dock has been suspended.

On the Walt Disney World website, it now states that from “May 11th through late June, the boat dock at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will undergo routine maintenance. The dock will be closed and boat transportation to Magic Kingdom park will be suspended from May 11th through June 5th.”

This means that, for now, the only options to get to Magic Kingdom will be by Monorail, or walking. At this time, it has not been announced if buses will run from the hotel to the park. Previously, when the Monorail was unavailable at the hotel, buses were added to ease the transportation crowds for the boats, but no announcement has been made so far.

Boat dock is closed!

Yes, the dock itself will be under construction through late June, but we’re thankful boat transportation will only be affected for a few weeks. This is very similar to what just happened over at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort, as its boat dock just recently reopened on May 2nd after being closed for refurbishment. Does this mean it’s possible we could see more Disney hotels with water transportation options refurbish their docks soon? It’s possible — we’ll keep an eye out.
