How LONG It Actually Takes to Get on the Most Popular Disney World Rides

There’s a LOT to do in Disney World but how much can you realistically accomplish in just one day?

You can use Park Hopping to visit multiple parks in one day and maximize your time by taking advantage of perks like Early Theme Park Entry and Extended Evening Hours. And if you’re willing to shell out the cash, Genie+ can help you skip lots of long lines. But what if you’ll just be doing a “standard” day without Genie+ and want to ride the most popular rides in each park? How long will that take you? Let’s find out!

For this experiment, we’re taking a look at the Disney World wait times from March 20th, 2023 — right in the middle of the spring break season. Overall, there was a mix of wait times, with some being quite high while others were relatively low. Being that it was a Monday and not the weekend, though, there were some lower times, with no ride hitting any wait times above 180 minutes.

Alright, now let’s take a look at the wait times for some of the most popular rides throughout the parks.

At Magic Kingdom, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is one of the most popular rides and can often have extremely long wait times. On March 20th, its wait times ranged from 60 minutes to 130 minutes.

For EPCOT, we picked Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure (though other rides, like Frozen Ever After and Test Track can often have very long waits too). Remy wait times ranged from 60 minutes to 125 minutes.

For Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Avatar Flight of Passage can sometimes have wait times that are physically painful to look at. Wait times at this ride on March 20th ranged from 70 to 150 minutes.

And finally, at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, we picked…the obvious — Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. Wait times here for this ride ranged from 50 to 180 minutes.

If you timed things perfectly and got on each ride when it had the shortest wait, you’d be looking at 240 minutes (or around 4 hours) to get on all of these rides. Unfortunately, that strategy wouldn’t quite work out with the current Park Hopping rules that restrict hopping to after 2PM because some of the shortest waits for a few of the rides were in the morning.

On the longer end, if you timed it where you hit all of the longest wait times for these rides, you’d be looking at 585 minutes in lines — or nearly 10 HOURS (9.75 hours) just for 4 rides!

In other words, it can take a while to get on Disney World’s most popular rides if you’re trying to do them all in one day, so be sure to plan accordingly and see whether things like Genie+ or Individual Lightning Lanes (pay-per-ride) will be worth the cash for you. Don’t forget about Early Theme Park Entry and Extended Evening Hours too, and consider whether something like an After Hours event ticket would give you the best chance to get on the rides you want with the lowest waits.
