Why Is It Always the Most Popular Disney World Rides That Have the Most Issues?

The holiday season means crowds are pretty intense in the parks, and we can expect wait times to go up to match that.

We can also expect certain things from rides — we know Test Track will not only be a high wait, but also likely go down at least once, we aren’t shocked if Rise of the Resistance has a tough day, and over in Magic Kingdom, during the winter months, we half expect Tiana’s Bayou Adventure to act up in the morning. But this ride? Yeah, we CANNOT figure out what’s going on with this ride, because it changes EVERY day.

Let’s take a look at the wait times for Friday, December 19th, 2025. 

Magic Kingdom

TRON Lightcycle / Run and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train both tied at 55-minute waits, but what really caught our surprise is how we’ve seen the PeopleMover have some unexpected issues multiple days this past week. This ride has been doing well, rarely going down for a while now, but it seems that streak may have been broken. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure also started off the day rough, and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh continues to struggle at least once practically every day.

Test Track ended the day with a 105-minute wait, and only went down once, which is a big deal for this ride! The refurbishment has caused it to struggle since opening, so we’re hoping it’s starting to find its feet. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind did have three ride closures throughout the day, though, including at close, which is likely why Test Track’s ending wait time was so high.

Avatar Flight of Passage totally threw us a curveball, hitting a 95-minute wait at 5 PM, which is WAY later than we’ve seen a wait time this high before. In fact, yesterday, the best time to ride Flight of Passage WAS a rope drop, where it was only 35 minutes! We need this ride to stick to a schedule, please and thank you.

Slinky Dog Dash and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster tied with 90-minute waits, but we were happy to see it wasn’t due to ride closures, as Rise of the Resistance only closed twice, and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster was only down once!
