I Just Discovered a Game-Changing App for Driving to Disney World

Many people don’t realize that, while I’m in Disney World pretty much once a month, I don’t live in Orlando!

In fact, I live in Georgia, about 6.5-7 hours from Disney World, which isn’t bad at all when it’s a drive you’ve done time and time again. Yes, I drive, instead of flying, completely by choice! Dealing with tolls isn’t the most fun, and Atlanta traffic is truly a beast I can never conquer, but I enjoy listening to some of my favorite music while I drive. However, that also means I’m always trying to find the best deals on gas without waiting too long and stressing that I’m running on empty too long, and thankfully, that’s MUCH easier with this app!

Instead of having to look at every single sign I pass, which is especially difficult when you’re on the highway, since you can’t see them all unless they’re super tall, I use the app Upside! This is completely free, and you can get cashback for getting gas at the gas stations that have partnered with them.

The app is super easy to use, and when I first downloaded it years ago, there weren’t too many spots on it. Now, though? Just LOOK at how many spots around me are on the list! And yes, you see that right — it’s not just gas stations, it’s also dining locations as well.

Offers are sometimes small, only 3¢ or so back per dollar you spend or per gallon, but I’ve found that more recently, offers are as high as 10-13¢ per gallon! I just visited Wendy’s the other day and got 25% cash back on my purchase, which was HUGE, and totally unexpected. Throughout my time using the app, I’ve earned $62.43—without going anywhere, I wouldn’t have gone anywhere!

Once you’d like to take out what you’ve earned, you can choose to have it transferred directly to your bank, or you can get a gift card to a NUMBER of different spots, or a Visa gift card that can be used anywhere. I personally usually just have it sent to my bank, but I really appreciate that there are so many options!

To actually get your cashback, you can either connect your “preferred card” that will automatically see the transaction and count it once you’ve confirmed you want to “claim” a deal, or you can choose to upload a receipt. Certain locations (such as one of my favorite dining spots, Playa Bowls) will only allow you to upload a receipt, so keep that in mind and be sure to grab yours!

This takes very little extra time when I’m on the road, and it’s great to know I’m getting a little something back. You can also open up the app to follow along on the map as you’re driving, to see when you’re coming up on some spots! For basically every trip I’ve taken in the past few years, I’ve used this app — it’s totally worth it! Again, it costs absolutely nothing to you to use, and you basically get money back you were already going to spend anyway. That’s a major win.
