SNEAK PEEK at the NEW Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets Animatronics

Forget meeting the Muppets, it’s almost time to rock out with them!

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster

As we speed ever closer to the May 26th grand opening of the Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets, Disney has released a first look at some familiar faces coming to the revamped ride!

According to the Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster’s new storyline, G-Force Records has been purchased by J.P. Grosse, the in-canon Muppet real estate owner of the Muppet Theatre, so as guests take their VIP tour through the company, it’s only natural that they come across Grosse’s nephew Scooter! As guests reach the studio Aerosmith once inhabited, they’ll encounter The Electric Mayhem “cranking out the familiar tune “Can You Picture That?” as they rehearse for their big concert, as well as the first-ever full Muppet Audio-Animatronic of Scooter himself!

Imagineering went as authentic as possible, using motion‑capture technology to record a full performance of Scooter the Muppet (yes, the actual Muppet). According to Imagineers, by “recording and tracking Scooter’s performance, Walt Disney Imagineering was able to build and program a figure that looks, moves, and emotes exactly like Scooter should, right down to the small details.”

In addition to Scooter, the studio will also be home to the “finest audio engineers” around, all penguins, of course! Fans of Muppet*Vision 3D may notice they bear a resemblance to Nicky Napoleon and His Emperor Penguins (Elmer, Eugene, and Estelle), who called the orchestra pit home during the show’s lifespan.

Following this studio encounter, guests will head out into the alley behind Studio C to hop on the Lengthy Immediate Motion Object (L.I.M.O.) ride vehicle, and blast off into the Electric Mayhem’s rocking world, complete with a collection of rockin’ tunes.

Here’s what’s on the set list:

  • “Song 2”  – The Electric Mayhem
  • “Born To Be Wild” – The Electric Mayhem ft. Camilla the Chicken
  • “Love Rollercoaster” – The Electric Mayhem ft. Jennifer Hudson & Questlove
  • “Rock! Rock! (Till You Drop)” – The Electric Mayhem ft. Def Leppard
  • “Walking on Sunshine” – The Electric Mayhem ft. Kelly Clarkson

According to Disney, each song “brings its own energy, tempo, and attitude, creating a concert-style experience where the soundtrack doesn’t just play – it goes from zero to sixty in three… two… one!” They even teased that the band might have some bonus tracks recorded.
