This Is One of The BEST Times to Visit Disney World For Low Wait Times

We’re in an interesting time in Disney World right now. The spring break crowds have come and gone, but summer is just around the corner. So, does that make this a great time to visit the parks, or a time to avoid?

The answer may surprise you. If you don’t do well with the heat, it’s already starting to get pretty toasty, and you may find yourself pretty miserable, but if you’re looking for decently low wait times during a time of year that you (if you’re already on summer vacation a few weeks before others) don’t have to take off school for, this is the PERFECT time to visit, but it won’t last long!

Let’s take a look at wait times from Saturday, May 9th!

Magic Kingdom

TRON Lightcycle / Run had the highest wait time of 80 minutes right around 2 PM, which is NOT normally when we see it peak, especially as it gets hotter outside, since part of the line is outdoors. Fortunately, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad didn’t have any closures during the day (that’s a BIG win), but TRON did go down the final hour of the day, and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train went down twice, among other various one-hour long closures.

Epcot

It seems that the popularity Test Track had for months after finally reopening last summer is starting to wear off, as Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind easily had the highest wait time of 115 minutes. Don’t get us wrong, Test Track still has some high wait times, and it’s very much one of the most popular rides in the park, but it’s more likely now you’ll be waiting longer for Cosmic Rewind. The attraction did go down once during the day, though, and when that happens, you can bet that Test Track will then have the highest wait.

Avatar Flight of Passage had the highest wait time of 95 minutes right around 2 PM as well, which was likely right as people were park hopping out of the park, or made it their first ride coming in. Fortunately, this park didn’t suffer from any unexpected closures, which is a relief — any day that happens, it’s an EXTRA rough day, considering there’s not much to experience here in terms of rides at the moment.

Rise of the Resistance hit an 85 minute wait right after being closed the first hour of the day, but then Slinky Dog Dash tied with it later on! It’s not too awfully hot in Disney World right now, but this is your warning — when we’re in the peak of summer season, we do NOT recommend waiting in the queue for Slinky Dog Dash in the middle of the day — it gets hot REAL fast!
