We’ve Got the Data That Proves What NOT To Do When Magic Kingdom Closes Early

We’re in Disney World every SINGLE day, but that doesn’t mean we don’t learn new things each time we step into the parks!

This week has been a busy one for Disney World — the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival has officially kicked off, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is approaching its one-month mark of being open for the year, and storms are very prevalent in the parks this time of year. We took a look at wait times from August 30th and learned something very valuable you need to know!

Here’s a full look at the Disney World wait times on August 30th, 2024.

Magic Kingdom

Rain and storms definitely wreaked some havoc over in Magic Kingdom — multiple outdoor rides were closed throughout the day due to lightning in the area. However, since it was a Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party night, crowds were relatively low throughout the day, with the highest wait time being Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at 65 minutes at 11AM.

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure had the highest wait of 60 minutes, and while that’s not a short wait, it’s also much better than we’ve seen it before! Could it be that the start of the Food and Wine Festival has everyone distracted at festival booths? Maybe!

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Animal Kingdom had a ROUGH day, but not in the way you’re expecting! The highest wait was Flight of Passage at 65 minutes, which isn’t bad at all for this ride, but the rain and storms also shut down the outdoor rides in this park for about an hour, which is about half the rides in the park. What was MOST shocking, though, was seeing Kali River Rapids hit a whopping 60-MINUTE wait!

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Something really interesting happened in Hollywood Studios, and we think it’s very important for you to watch out for. Wait times were relatively low throughout the day UNTIL 6-7PM, which was right as Magic Kingdom was closing for the party. Then, Slinky Dog Dash jumped to its highest wait of the day of 85 minutes (earlier in the day, it had been sitting between 50-55 minutes), so if you’re visiting the parks on a Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party day, keep in mind that everyone may run to Hollywood Studios when Magic Kingdom closes!
