The Best Thing About TSA PreCheck Has Nothing To Do With Skipping Airport Security Lines

Using TSA PreCheck is something that I’ve found to be extremely helpful while traveling, but maybe not for the reason you’re suspecting.

I have traveled through quite a few airports!

The biggest draw of the service is that you get put in a separate line that often moves way faster than regular security, and oftentimes, the line itself is shorter. This means I’m way less stressed about making it to my gate on time, especially when regular security looks SUPER long (and that happens pretty often). However, what I love most? It’s not the time saver — it’s the way I don’t have to unpack my ENTIRE bag.

With TSA PreCheck, there’s much less hassle in the actual line. When I travel, it’s usually for work, so I’ve got a lot of electronics with me. It’s more than just a laptop, phone, and camera. It’s usually all three of those things, plus too many cables to count, potentially a tripod, SD cards, and multiple electronic components that would otherwise need to be taken out of my bag. Thanks to TSA PreCheck, that doesn’t need to happen!

Not having to take all those items out of my bag saves me TONS of time in itself, but it also saves me the stress of worrying that something will get lost and not get back in my bag. There’s nothing worse than being terrified you’ll make it to your gate and realize you don’t have your phone, or making it all the way to your destination and belatedly realizing you don’t have an important cord as I dig through my bag frantically.

Especially if I’m traveling internationally, it’s not easy to find an exact replica of a cord or charger I need, and of course, I don’t want to spend the extra money if I can help it — electronics aren’t cheap! Using TSA PreCheck has helped make my travel days much smoother, and that’s always something I appreciate.

However, it’s important to note that TSA PreCheck isn’t the best option for everyone! It’s relatively expensive, and it’s often not necessary if you don’t travel much. For me, I’m flying all over the place numerous times a year, so the cost is more than worth it. I’d say if you don’t have 3-4+ trips planned in one year that you’ll need to fly for, it’s not worth it. Unless, of course, you travel with lots of equipment like I do!
