A Popular Disney Event Had MAJOR Issues Today and Fans Are FURIOUS

Something BIG has happened and Disney fans are furious!

A glitch just happened for the sign-up process for Disney World’s runDisney, not once, not twice, but THREE times. The result…the sign-up is NOT happening today. This has caused a riot with Disney fans, and the main question we’re asking is…what happened?

Today, June 2nd, was supposed to be the sign-up day for runDisney’s Princess Half Marathon Weekend. Disney runners were ready at 10 AM EST sharp, which was supposed to be when sign-ups opened. If you’ve ever done a runDisney event before, you know how chaotic the sign-up process can be. Well, things got crazy when we saw a notification on Instagram that there was a delay.

The first notification wasn’t the end of the world, but it had us worried. Delays suck, especially when you’re up and ready, filled with adrenaline, ready to pounce on the sign-up sheet before everyone else. What stood out was that the notification didn’t say when sign-up was; it said when we would get an UPDATE. The update was coming at 10:30 AM, 30 minutes after the sign-up time.

Well, that update came, and it was at that moment that we all started to freak out! The update said we would be getting ANOTHER update at 11 AM. No sign-up time, no information, just more delays.

Finally, 11 AM came around, and what was the update? The sign-up for the race was NOT happening today. We thought things were bad before, but it just got even worse. Disney fans were MAD (no, like mad mad).

An Instagram post went up from runDisney stating, “We know many of you are eager to register for the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend, and we apologize for the delay. Unfortunately, registration will not take place today. We’ll share an update on runDisney social accounts by 8:00 PM ET this evening.” The post was FLOODED with comments!

Some people sat waiting to sign up for the race, only to realize they wasted away their morning. We saw @sydney_ung say, “Sat on my couch and didn’t go to pilates for NO REASON.” While @disglamour23 exclaimed, “I take off of work MONTHS in advance for this! As soon as the calendar comes out. This is crazy…”

One user, @magicallyshawna, had lots to say, and understandably so — “This is ridiculous, people took off work to be able to register. Wasted our entire morning. Now it will probably be at a time we can’t get on and register. How does this happen every year????”

Another user claimed that we need answers, and we couldn’t agree more! “At this point, you need to share what happened. People take off work/block calendars for this. Please be better. You know it’s going to be high traffic!!!!” said @nikkioverkamp. We got a good laugh out of what @monorailmagic had to say, which was “spent longer in the queue than I will on the course.”

As frusturating as this proccess is, we do think it’s important to show a little grace, as technology can fail at times. Sometimes it’s no ones fault. “I would like to remind everyone to practice grace. Sometimes things happen. Technology is known to fail. Not even a billion dollar company can stop a website from crashing when a site is flooded with traffic,” said @ranishareee.
