To say that things are a little busy in Disney’s Hollywood Studios is an understatement. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets just opened, Animation Courtyard has been reimagined into The Walt Disney Studios, and a Monsters, Inc. land is being built where Muppets Courtyard used to be.
That’s not all, though. Some work seems to be scheduled soon for Toy Story Land. A new permit was just filed for a ride there…and it seems to be something that’s way more than simple maintenance.
Anytime Disney needs to do some construction work on a ride or building, the company has to file a permit with the state of Florida. Disney just recently filed a new permit for an address that turns out to be Alien Swirling Saucers, located in Hollywood Studios’ Toy Story Land.
What makes this permit interesting is that it’s to “install set elements,” which means new set pieces are coming to the ride. The contractor listed on the permit is Icarus Exhibits, a company that specializes in designing and building fabrications, aka sets and set pieces. The company has previously worked with Disney on such projects as TRON Lightcycle / Run, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Rapunzel’s Tower in Magic Kingdom’s Fantasyland, and Toy Story Land.
This likely means that something NEW is coming to Alien Swirling Saucers. Could it be an addition to the ride from Toy Story 5, which releases in theaters soon? Could it be something else? Well, the permit doesn’t give out those kinds of details, but we do know that Disney has something new planned for the ride.
