2 Crucial Tips for Your Disney World Trip

We have tips for first-timers, life-changing tips based on our MANY trips to the parks, and even tips for traveling with toddlers. But today we’re focusing on 2 crucial wait times tips.

Tip #1

Get up EARLY. Getting up early in Disney World is critical for so many reasons. If you’ll be using Genie+, getting up early will help you select the best ride/time for your group. If you’ll be buying an Individual Lightning Lane (and you’re staying at a Disney World hotel and get early access to making those types of reservations), getting up early can help you pick the perfect return time. And if you want a spot in a virtual queue, getting up early is KEY when that (typically) 7AM sign-up time drops.

But even if you’ll just be going to the parks and getting in the regular standby lines, getting up early can be a HUGE help. Take a look at the wait times below — at 9AM, 12 rides had a wait time of just 5 minutes in Magic Kingdom on January 19th. Compare that to 2PM (when just 4 rides had a wait time of 5 minutes) and you can see the value.

Get up early, get to the parks early, and you will often find MUCH shorter wait times than later in the day.

Tip #2

Stay in the parks late. While you might be tempted to leave the park in the early evening to relax, if riding the attractions is a priority, staying late can help too!

Take a look at those wait times again. Look at EPCOT for example. At 4PM, just 2 EPCOT rides had a wait time of 5 minutes. But stick around until 8PM and that bumps up to 5. 

If you can’t do both (get up early and stay late) consider at least doing one or alternating which you do throughout your trip. Remember you could also go back to the hotel for a midday nap and then return to the park later in the evening to accomplish both while still getting rest.
