Our Jaws DROPPED When We Saw This Happen in Magic Kingdom Yesterday

We saw some things change pretty drastically in Disney World yesterday, but believe it or not, some of it was a relief!

We’ve seen some ride trends stay the same for WEEKS now in a few parks, and we finally saw some of those patterns break. However, we’ll be the first to admit that Magic Kingdom had a VERY rough day, and it’s got us concerned about not one, but two different rides.

Let’s take a look at wait times from Sunday, February 8th.

Magic Kingdom

TRON Lightcycle / Run hitting a 95 minute wait in the second to last hour of the park day was pretty normal. What wasn’t normal? Well, the fact that Space Mountain was closed ALL DAY, and Under The Sea was closed up until the last three hours of the park day. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train was ALSO down for three hours in the middle of the day, and other rides had minor closures as well. All in all, NOT a good day for the park.

To our surprise, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure had the highest wait time of 125 minutes, which was NOT what we ever expected to see happen. While the ride did briefly close for an hour, it wasn’t for long, and other rides weren’t shut down at the time it shot up, so we’re curious about the sudden increase in wait time.

Avatar Flight of Passage hit a 95 minute wait right at noon, which is pretty on par with what we’ve seen in recent weeks. Why is that interesting? Well, because the land now has one less attraction with DinoLand U.S.A. gone, we expected wait times to really soar. However, it’s looking like wait times are staying the same, which could be because fewer people are choosing to visit the park until most of the construction is complete.

For the first time in a LONG time, the longest wait time didn’t go to Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run — instead, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and Slinky Dog Dash both tied at 90 minutes. This could be partly because people realize time is running out to ride the current edition of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster before its retheme.
