Don’t underestimate the need for a battery pack during your Disney World vacation. We all love the idea of being off our phones and enjoying time with the family, but once you realize you need to book reservations, check wait times, take a million photos, and more, your phone battery might be hanging on for dear life.

That’s why we love FuelRods! These bad boys are free to swap out around Disney World, so when your battery is drained, you can switch it out and get a fully charged one — no cost. FuelRod recently released a new version, and we’re testing it to see if you should make the upgrade!
This is the FuelRod Prop Max 10, and it’s completely different than the FuelRod we used to know.

Right off the bat, we noticed the size. This thing is a hunk! With that size, though, you get even more battery life and power. If you’re someone who’s going to use your phone for more than just pictures, especially if you will be checking work emails, you might need a longer battery life to keep you going.

We love that there are multiple charging ports so you can charge multiple devices at once, and the battery life indicator on the side. There’s an easy button to turn it on and off, and it comes with different charger styles for all your devices. It’s also MagSafe, so if your phone is MagSafe-compatible, you can slide this right onto the back without worrying about cables.

What don’t we love? The price! It’s around $80, which is A LOT. Fortunately, like the other version, you can swap it out for free at Disney World. It’s only a one-time fee, so it might be worth the investment. Keep in mind that FuelRod stations are also outside Disney World, but you’ll typically need to pay to swap there.

We’re also not a huge fan of how heavy and bulky it is, but being able to charge magnetically and have a longer battery life might make it worth it. With the original style, our reporters in the parks usually switch out their FuelRods more than once a day, so this could keep you going longer.

It toally makes your park day easier because trying to find an outlet in Magic Kingdom when your phone is on 2% and you’re waiting for your family to get off an attraction is stressful (been there, done that. You can charge your phone in the tree stumps near the Rapunzel bathroom but you’re going to be sitting there awhile fighting for a spot).

Currently, these are not on Amazon, but we still love our classic version, which you can buy here.

You can grab the new version at the kiosks around Disney World. No matter what, make sure you have some sort of battery pack for the hours you’ll spend in line — trust us, you’ll be thanking yourself later!
