If You Rope Drop This Disney World Ride, You’re Going to Need a Backup Plan

We’re always going to recommend rope drop when visiting Disney World because it is, generally speaking, the best way to knock out rides with shorter lines at the parks.

For those rides that tend to have longer waits throughout the day, rope drop can make a huge difference. But one highly popular ride in Disney’s Hollywood Studios requires you to rethink your strategy…and have a backup plan in place, just in case.

That ride is Rise of the Resistance, which is notorious for closing at least once every day. We get it…the ride has a lot of highly technical elements, and those tend to have technical issues more often than rides that aren’t as technologically advanced. But we often see this ride fail to open in the mornings when Hollywood Studios opens, meaning that if you plan on rope dropping it, you’re out of luck. For example, Rise of the Resistance was closed yesterday when the park opened until noon!

The best thing you can do for any rope drop situation, and not just in Hollywood Studios, is to have some other rides you want to rope drop as part of your rope drop backup plan. That way, if you get to the park and find out the ride you want to rope drop is closed, you can quickly head on over to your backup plan rides without missing a beat.
