I’ll be honest, Disney World isn’t always butterflies and rainbows if you’re an introvert.

There are some rides in Disney World that are just…awkward if you’re not interested in socializing with strangers. But one of the worst offenders? It’s located at Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park.
Do you know which ride at Blizzard Beach is an absolute nightmare if you’re an introvert? Teamboat Springs! The description for this ride on the Disney World website is, “Fun is a family affair on one of the world’s longest group whitewater raft adventures, for up to 5 riders.” Emphasis here is on “family affair.” And if you’re not traveling with a family, be prepared to join one.

Since each raft accommodates up to five people, if you have fewer than four people in your group, you may be grouped with another party to ride. You sit in a circular raft, so they have to be able to balance out the weight in a comfortable way. Not to mention that you’ll all be facing each other while you ride…IN SWIMSUITS. Remember when I said it was an introvert’s nightmare? Are you understanding now?

There may be awkward eye contact or uncomfortable small talk, and there’s no telling who’s going to get the most soaked or accidentally touch a stranger’s feet with your feet. It can be a kind of weird experience, even though it’s also a lot of fun (1200 feet of twists and turns through whitewater rapids!).

Recently, my teammate Quincy made a trip to Blizzard Beach for a YouTube video, and as a single rider, she was paired with a family from Austria. They hit it off on Teamboat Springs, and they even asked her to ride with them a second time…and then a third! So, I suppose it actually could be sunshine and rainbows if you make new friends. But you’d have to be open to chatting with strangers!

So you might want to take this into consideration if social interaction with people you don’t know sounds uncomfortable — bring your own group with you to ride Teamboat Springs!

We’re expecting that lots of folks will find themselves in Disney World water parks this summer, as a popular perk is returning for guests of Disney Resorts on May 26th. Throughout the summer, you’ll be able to go to a Disney World water park for FREE on your check-in day if you’re staying at a Disney-owned hotel. How exciting!

Don’t forget the sunscreen if you’re planning a water park day, and make sure to hydrate! The water parks can be a lot of fun if you come prepared.
