Why You Need To Visit Disney's Animal Kingdom at Night

We’ve seen a lot of things in Disney World — we are there pretty much every day, after all — but this? Yeah, this might be a new one for us.

It’s the season of holiday parties in Disney World, which means that Jollywood Nights and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party trade off with parties most nights, and that can affect the crowds in the other Disney World parks. But emptying out a park nearly ENTIRELY? Yeah, that wasn’t what we expected to see.

Let’s take a look at the wait times for Friday, November 21st, 2025.

Magic Kingdom

TRON Lightcycle / Run hit the highest wait time right around 7 PM (AKA, right when it gets dark), which was 50 minutes, but what surprised us more was how many issues The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh had. It was closed for three hours in a row, and as this isn’t one of the most technologically advanced rides in the park, we’re starting to get pretty concerned about it.

For the first time in FOREVER, the highest wait time of the day went to Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, which had a 70-minute wait! This is likely because it just came out of its mini refurbishment, so it’s no longer in 3D. This likely makes the ride much more friendly to those with motion sickness, so we’re glad it can now be enjoyed by more people!

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

So this…this may be the strangest thing we’ve seen happen in Animal Kingdom in quite some time, but we THINK we’ve got it figured out. Flight of Passage hit its highest wait time of 70 minutes for three hours in a row — 2 PM, 3 PM, and 4 PM. After that, though? It dropped DRASTICALLY, to 30 minutes, then 20, then ended the day at only a 10-minute wait. Our thinking? Since yesterday was a Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party night in Magic Kingdom, and party guests could enter the park as early as 4 PM, we think people left Animal Kingdom right around that time and left the park virtually empty.

Toy Story Mania continually surprises us with its higher than normal wait times, hitting 80 minutes earlier in the day, though Slinky Dog Dash was quick to match it. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster was also closed for the first two hours of the park day, but honestly, that’s MUCH better than it could have been.
