It isn’t a huge secret that the week of Christmas can be an extremely busy one in Disney World. So if you’re in Disney World this week, we suggest you bring one thing in abundance: your patience.
Some of the most popular rides (especially Flight of Passage and Rise of the Resistance) have recently had wait times of MULTIPLE hours, although the least popular rides (Astro Orbiter, Journey Into Imagination, TriceraTop Spin) can still have some relatively short waits!
Although you’ll likely see high prices for Genie+ this week due to surge pricing, it could be well worth the money to purchase Genie+ right now to skip some of those extremely long lines.
Just keep in mind that there are 2 services you’ll need to look at — Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lanes (pay-per-ride).
The “standard” Genie+ service is something you’ll need to pay for per person per day if you want to use it. Thus far, the highest price we’ve seen it reach is $29 per person per day, but that is subject to change. With the “standard” Genie+ service, you can get access to the Lightning Lanes (the old FastPass+ lines) at most Disney World rides. You’ll select the return time you want for the attraction you want to ride, and then hop in the Lightning Lane when it’s your turn! Then you’ll continue to make 1 Lightning Lane selection at a time throughout the day.
Pay-per-ride is reserved for Disney World’s most popular rides — Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, and Avatar Flight of Passage. To skip the lines at those rides, you’ll need to pay INDIVIDUALLY for each ride. You can get a maximum of 2 Individual Lightning Lanes per person per day.
Genie+ might be particularly helpful at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. At various points throughout the day yesterday, December 22nd, nearly EVERY SINGLE RIDE had a wait time of over an hour. If you’re not willing to pay for Genie+ to avoid the lines there, consider hopping on some of those popular rides as SOON as the park opens or much later in the afternoon/evening, when wait times can drop.
