2 MAJOR Projects Revealed For This Popular Disney Hotel

If you haven’t been to Disney’s BoardWalk in a few years, you might not even recognize it!

Disney’s BoardWalk

From the opening of The Cake Bake Shop, BoardWalk Deli, and BoardWalk Ice Cream to the closures of Jellyrolls and Big River Grille, the businesses here have been changing like the seasons. And coming soon, it looks like we could get NEW offerings to fill those spots that are vacant!

Thanks to the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District website, we know that there are two ongoing projects at Disney’s BoardWalk. Public documents have been uploaded, naming them “Project Bubbles” and “Project Amazon.”

The BoardWalk

Project Amazon is located at the former home of Big River Grille & Brewing Works, which closed in early 2024. The spot has been vacant since (for more than two years!), so we’re excited to see that something is underway for this location. The restaurant itself was on the smaller side compared to other BoardWalk dining options, but it could still house quite a few people.

Project Bubbles is tucked away closer to the main part of the BoardWalk Inn, located in the former home of the Promenade Fine Art Gallery. This was a decently-sized store space, so there’s a good bit of potential for what could move in to that location.

We’ll be keeping a close eye on these projects and let you know if we get any updates. We’re also closely watching the former home of Jellyrolls, the dueling piano bar, to see if there are any updates. That entertainment venue closed a little while back and is now opening a location off Disney property.

Jellyrolls

In addition to the changes on the BoardWalk itself, the BoardWalk Inn has been under construction for a while. Updates have been made to the lobby and the hotel rooms. Basically, if you’ve stayed here recently, you’ve probably seen construction in some manner or another.

BoardWalk Lobby

The most recent addition to the BoardWalk was a new snack stand, replacing the former funnel cake stand.  The menu is pretty simple with popcorn, Mickey ice cream bars, and churros, but it filled in another “abandoned” spot to make this area feel a little more lively.

The far side of Disney’s BoardWalk had been looking a little sad in recent months with all those closures, so we’re excited to see more businesses joining Screendoor General Store and the Atlantic Dance Hall. Make the BoardWalk hoppin’ again!
