A MAJOR Park Change Starts Today at Disney World

Summer is right around the corner, and that means the Orlando temperatures are already starting to rise.

So what’s the best way to beat the heat on your summer Disney vacation? That’s right, visit the Water Parks! If you’re ready to splash, a big change starts today!

After being closed for refurbishment for a few months, Typhoon Lagoon has officially reopened today, May 12th, 2026, and will be open for the rest of the summer. But here is the exciting news: Blizzard Beach will also be open all summer!

Blizzard Beach

For the last several summers, Disney has only operated one of its Water Parks at a time. So, depending on the timing of your trip, you would only have access to one park, and you could not visit the other.

However, both parks have great rides and fun theming, and it is so exciting that guests will be able to choose which park they visit, or even visit both. This will also apply to the Cool Kid Summer Resort Guest Water Park perk!

Typhoon Lagoon’s Stormslides

This summer, from May 26th through September 8th, Disney World Resort Guests get free Water Park admission on their check-in day. In years past, admission would be for whichever park was open.

However, this year, guests will be able to choose between the two Water Parks and decide where to use their free admission! This is similar to how it worked last summer.

H2O Glow Nights will also be returning to Typhoon Lagoon this year. This is a specialty ticketed event that runs select nights from June through September 5th, and gives guests three hours to enjoy the water park at night! It includes limited capacity, a dance party, special characters, and select snacks and drinks.
