Not every Disney World ride is going to be everyone’s favorite, but when you talk with people about what their least favorite ride in Disney World is, or one they wish would be totally changed, a very common answer is Kali River Rapids.
Why? Well, this ride is pretty inconsistent on how soaked you’ll get (you could argue that’s part of the fun…unless it’s a hot day and you desperately want to cool down and then get NOTHING on you), but if we’re being honest, it’s just pretty lame. It’s short, the theming isn’t great, and there’s really only one big drop, and then the ride is over. That’s why we’re surprised that, even during a hotter day in February, people waited in this LONG line for this ride.
Let’s take a look at wait times from Friday, February 20th.
Magic Kingdom
The park did NOT start off on the right foot, as four attractions were closed — Space Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean, Peter Pan’s Flight, and Barnstormer. While TRON Lightcycle / Run did have the highest wait time of 105 minutes about two hours before park closure, we’re more concerned with the fact that at the last hour of the day, Space Mountain was closed AGAIN, along with The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. While there weren’t many closures the rest of the day, it’s an improvement from the day before, and we’re still keeping a close eye on the park.

Avatar Flight of Passage hit a 95-minute wait right at 1 PM, which is when we’ve been noticing it usually peaks now (however, it was only 5 minutes shorter at rope drop), but do you want to know what REALLY shocked us yesterday? The fact that Kali River Rapids, arguably one of the worst water raft rides in the world of raft rides, hit an 85-minute wait at 2 PM! That just goes to show that there really is a bit of a winter heat wave happening in the parks right now.
