We watch Disney World wait times every single day, and are also IN the parks each day as well, which means when new trends happen, we’re there to see them.
We’ve seen some strange trends in the past, and not all of them stick around for too long. We’re certainly hoping this one won’t, because it’s going to make riding a few select rides around the park later in the day more tricky, and riding this ONE ride in particular take a lot longer than normal.
Let’s take a look at wait times from Friday, January 23rd, 2026!
Magic Kingdom
It seems that the worst time to ride TRON Lightcycle / Run if you want low waits is just a few hours before park closure, or right before the park shuts down for the night. Yesterday, the ride hit its highest wait time, 115 minutes, right at 8 PM after being much lower all day. A few rides had short closures throughout the day, such as Space Mountain, the PeopleMover, Under The Sea — Journey of the Little Mermaid, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.

Yesterday, that was a 140-minute wait, one hour before park close, and while Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure was down at the same time, it hadn’t been an hour previously when Cosmic Rewind was at a 130-minute wait. However, if you had ridden the attraction earlier in the day, including at rope drop, you only would have waited between 60-85 minutes on average.

Meanwhile, over in Animal Kingdom, it appears the park is attempting to follow a similar pattern, as its SECOND highest wait time of 80 minutes for Avatar Flight of Passage was right at the end of the park day, but it still enjoys hitting its actual highest wait (in this case, 90 minutes) in the middle of the day. We’re still thinking this is because people are making it their first ride when they park hop INTO the park, or their last ride before they park hop elsewhere. With all the construction going on (that’s about to get worse with the full closure of DinoLand), this park is certainly more of a half day park at this time.

Once again, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run continues to have the highest wait of the day at 125 minutes! We’ll be honest, we have NO idea where the sudden extra popularity from this ride is coming from, especially since we’re still many months away from the attraction changing to include new stories. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and Rise of the Resistance both had closure issues throughout the day, but now that we’ve seen this trend multiple days in a row, we’ve got a feeling that it has nothing to do with closures.
