The Unspoken Bag Rule Disney World Regulars Follow That Nobody Tells You

Packing for Disney World is WAY harder than people make it out to be, let’s be real here. It doesn’t matter if you go once a week, you’re there every few months, once a year, or you’re going for a once-in-a-lifetime trip, it somehow never seems to get easier.

Packing is tricky!

We’ve been there firsthand too many times, and we feel like we learn something new each and every trip. We pass on everything we learn to you all, though, that way, you don’t make the same mistakes we do! Something we’ve learned recently is that, despite what you may have heard, if you’re traveling solo or without kids, you can actually pack SUPER light.

Listen, we’re not saying to forget the essentials at home — no, not at all. But when you’re traveling without kids, there are LOTS of things you’ll find you don’t actually need. This is going to be dependant based on what you yourself know you’ll need in the parks, but you won’t need to worry about snacks to keep kiddos from getting hangry, extra chargers for THEIR electronics in the parks (if they have any), things to keep them busy in line, etc. Taking all those things out of your bag leaves you with a LOT of space. However, organization is still going to be the name of the game though, so if you’re bringing a Loungefly, we highly recommend using HOYOFO Mini Backpack Organizer to keep everything easy to find.

We’ve often found that we feel like we can fit MORE in our bag with this, instead of it all just being thrown in there, though don’t ask us how that science works. Trust us, we’ve used Loungefly bags without it, both traveling with and without kids, and it’s just better to have.

No matter who you’re traveling with, having a Portable Charger is essential. Even if it’s just you, YOUR phone will totally die during the day, and this will alleviate that stress.

There are lots of chargers out there on the market, and one size won’t fit all, especially depending on how powerful you need your charger to be (ie: how much you plan to use your phone in the parks). The INIU Portable Charger is one of our personal favorites that hasn’t let us down, but at the end of the day, we just recommend grabbing one that’s powerful, yet slim, so it doesn’t take up too much space.

The last thing you want is to find yourself uncomfortable as you walk around the parks, which is part of the reason why the having the extra space to throw the Megababe Thigh Rescue Anti-Chafe Stick into your bag is a game changer.

We’ve been in the parks where we think we wouldn’t need this, and then KICK ourselves when we’re uncomfortable and don’t have any way to fix it. It’s better to have it and not need it than not have it and desperately wish you did — again, we’ve been there too many times to count.

You’ve likely heard time and time again how important it is to stay hydrated in Disney World, and that’s VERY true. When you have more space in your bag, we strongly recommend using some of that space for a solid water bottle, like an Owala.

If you want to go full Disney, there are tons of Disney Owala designs, but there are also plenty of regular designs to choose from as well if you don’t want it to be specifically themed to Disney. These water bottles keep your drinks cold, even on hot days, are easy to clean and carry around the parks. It never lets us down!

Sunscreen is also VERY important to have in the parks, because you WILL need to reapply throughout the day. However, when you’re traveling without kids, you don’t need to bring the GIANT thing of sunscreen with you, or have enough for everyone to reapply. You just need enough for yourself, and some for a friend who maybe forgot it.

We personally really love having a separate sunscreen for our face, as well, because let’s be real — sometimes it’s hard to spray a mist on your face or spread the thick, white sunscreen all over, especially if you have sensitive skin. Pro tip: if you deal with sweating and the sunscreen getting near your eyes, we recommend putting a setting powder over it!

That sun can be BRIGHT, and with the extra space in your bag, you’ve got room to pack some Sunglasses and keep yourself from squinting all day.

Now, we do recommend these be sunglasses you don’t care too much about, as it’s possible they could get lost sometimes on vacation. It won’t be worth it if you stress about it too much, so snag yourself some cheap ones and protect your eyes!
