No, You Still Can’t Count on Rise of the Resistance in Disney World

Imagine this: you’ve come to Disney World and you have a favorite ride, or a ride you’ve been wanting to ride for the first time, and you arrive at the park and that ride is down.

Okay, so rides close for a variety of reasons, including weather and technical difficulties. But some rides seem to close more often than others, and there’s one, in particular, that you can count on closing at least once (although it’s often more) during the day.​

That ride is Rise of the Resistance in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Because this ride is SO high-tech, it tends to close pretty often, and that was the case yesterday, June 11th. But what might have really frustrated some Disney World visitors is that Rise of the Resistance was closed at park open, which means it wasn’t available for rope drop. A lot of folks like to rope drop this ride, too, so that was probably a big disappointment. Not only that, but it closed again later in the day for about an hour.

So what can you do if the ride closes? Well, you can keep an eye on the My Disney Experience app to see when it reopens. If you’ve purchased the Individual Lightning Lane option and the ride closes during your return window, you’ll get an “experience redemption” that will allow you to access the ride’s Lightning Lane when it reopens. If the ride stays closed the rest of the day, you can get a refund, but you’ll have to visit Guest Services to request it.
