We talk about rope dropping in Disney World a lot here at AllEars, and we pretty much think it’s a good way to get in a lot of rides with shorter wait times, so you can save any Lightning Lanes you might purchase for something else.
We know, getting up early on your vacation might not seem ideal, but if you rope drop Disney’s Hollywood Studios, you’ll want to take that time to ride four specific rides to take advantage of short wait times. Let’s discuss.
In case you are new to rope dropping, it’s basically getting to the park as early as you can so you can get into the parks as early as you can. Generally, Disney will allow visitors into theme parks early, but for those without Early Theme Park Entry, there’s a rope that blocks off the various paths that lead to the park’s rides. When the rope drops…the park is open, and you can start riding attractions.
If you rope drop Hollywood Studios, you should prioritize four rides to get short wait times (we’re talking 20 minutes and under). For starters, don’t head to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at rope drop. Instead, get that Star Wars fix in early to ride Star Tours, which only had a 5-minute wait time at rope drop yesterday.
You can also make your way over to Toy Story Land to knock out two rides quickly. At rope drop yesterday, Toy Story Mania only had a 10-minute wait time at rope drop, while Alien Swirling Saucers only had a 15-minute wait time.
Another ride with very short rope drop wait times is the Tower of Terror. So be ready to step into The Twilight Zone first thing. Yesterday, the wait time at rope drop was just 15 minutes. If you prioritize these rides with the lowest rope drop wait times, you can get in more rides early and then hit up those rides with longer waits later, especially if you’ve purchased Lightning Lane Multi Pass.
