Disney really is about the details, and they become what fans appreciate the most, no matter how weird they might be.

Sure, we love the thrills, the nostalgia, and the iconic music, but if you hang around long enough, you’ll discover that Disney fans are really obsessed with the weird little details that you probably don’t notice the first time you ride. We’re going through some of the most bizarre things Disney fans love on Magic Kingdom rides.
Be Aware of Camels
On Magic Carpets of Aladdin, one of our readers left a review saying, “I know it’s a simple up, down ride, but I enjoyed trying to dodge the camel spit lol.” Most people know about the one right at the attraction’s sign. However, there is a second spitting camel that will shoot at you on the ride! Fans love the thrill of the unknown (and also potentially laughing when the camel hits the group in front of them).

The Smell of the Pirates of the Caribbean Water
The smell of the Pirates of the Caribbean water is one that you can probably smell as you’re reading this. Is it bromine? Is it nostalgia? Is it a core childhood memory? Whatever it is, fans absolutely love it. That slightly musty, salty, unmistakably “Pirates” scent instantly transports guests back to their first boat ride past cannon fire and treasure caves. Strange? Yes. Iconic? Also yes.

Uncle Orville Yelling From the Bathroom
If you know, you know. During Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress, while you’re admiring turn-of-the-century “modern conveniences,” Uncle Orville can be heard shouting from the bathroom, “No privacy at all around this place!” It’s such a random piece of the attraction, but fans wait for it every single time. The combination of old-fashioned humor and that booming voice in the theater makes it one of the most unexpectedly quotable lines in the park.

The Winking Hippo
Among the sea of dolls on “it’s a small world” and that song that will be stuck in your head all day, there’s a hippo who winks. You’ll find her on the right side of the boat, right next to the chimps hanging on the vines. And fans adore her. Will I point her out to everyone I’m with every time? Yes, I will.

“The Backside of Water!”
The Jungle Cruise is known for its quirky and hilarious skippers. The one-liners that come out of this ride are notorious for visitors, but one that really stands out is when they yell, “The Backside of Water”! I’ve ridden this attraction hundreds of times, and somehow, it never gets old.

The Bats on the Haunted Mansion Moving Walkway
As you glide along the moving walkway (a.k.a. the doom buggy loading area) in The Haunted Mansion, look down. There they are, bats on the walkway. They’re subtle, a little eerie, and completely unnecessary… which is exactly why fans love them. Just don’t look too long because then you’ll be stumbling into your doom buggy.

The Can-Can Dancers on “it’s a small world”
Yes, we’re back to “it’s a small world,” because those can-can dancers deserve their spotlight. In the France scene, these high-kicking dolls bring a burst of personality and flair that fans can’t help but appreciate. For many guests, spotting those synchronized kicks is a highlight they look forward to every single ride.

Magic Kingdom rides are packed with fun moments, but it’s often the quirky, small details that fans hold closest to their hearts. Before you go, we know you have opinions and we want to hear them! I prefer the Hula dancers on Small World to the Can Can dancers, especially the one who moves her hips really fast.
Once on Jungle Cruise we didn’t hear “Backside of Water”. When the waterfall was pointed out to us the skipper told us it was “that famous sight…Fantasmic!” It was a fairly new attraction at the studios at that point in time.
