Why You May NOT Want to Rope Drop This Disney World Attraction Anymore

The Disney World parks are changing all the time, and that means oftentimes the way you do the parks has to change, too!

We keep a close eye on all the latest Disney trends, movements, and changing details to help you make sure you plan the best way to have the most successful vacation you can, and we’ve started to notice that things are shifting in a way we weren’t expecting. More particularly, the rides you choose to rope drop? Yeah, you may want to switch those up!

Magic Kingdom

Unsurprisingly, TRON Lightcycle / Run had the highest wait time, but it was only 65 minutes, which is a big win for summertime! A few attractions did have closure issues during the day — Under The Sea — Journey of the Little Mermaid, Peter Pan’s Flight, Prince Charming Regal Carrousel, and Magic Carpets of Aladdin — but thankfully, none of them were for long, and they didn’t drastically affect wait times.

Epcot

Cosmic Rewind started out the day at 90 minutes, then dropped until the final two hours of the day, when it went back up to around 80 minutes. Turtle Talk with Crush and Gran Fiesta Tour both had minor issues throughout the day, which was interesting, but again, the closures didn’t majorly affect the park.

Flight of Passage hit a whopping 105 minute wait at the beginning of the day, and then proceeded to drastically drop. Does this mean that rope dropping this ride isn’t the best way to go anymore? It’s possible that you may want to wait until later in the day when those first initial crowds are gone — we’ll be keeping a close eye on this pattern!

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Slinky Dog Dash and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster both went down in the second half of the day, but what was even worse is seeing that Tower of Terror was clearly having some bad issues, but didn’t close. At the very end of the day, this ride hit the highest wait of all rides at 120 minutes. While it’s unclear if the high wait time was due to issues within the ride and it’s possible the ride was instead just THAT popular throughout the day, it started off the day as a complete walk on, then hit 25 minutes, and then leapt all the way up to 70 minutes. All that combined indicates to us that something was definitely wrong nearly all day.
