Yesterday was a big day in Disney World, especially for Disney’s Hollywood Studios!
The long-anticipated changes finally arrived at Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, and we were expecting to see LONG lines to experience the new missions now available. When we rope dropped, we did see a decently long line, even when the ride was down for the first hour, but for the rest of the day? Yeah, things did NOT go as planned.
Let’s take a look at wait times from Friday, May 22nd.
Magic Kingdom
It was back to business as usual in Magic Kingdom yesterday, with TRON Lightcycle / Run hitting its highest wait of 80 minutes right at the end of the day. While Tiana’s Bayou Adventure was closed for the last two hours of the day, along with one hour earlier, it wasn’t a bad day for closures, and we’ll take that as a win!

Cosmic Rewind was closed the final hour of the day though, which is, again, why we say to never leave a ride you’re REALLY desperately hoping to ride until the end of the day, even if that’s when you’re expecting to see the lowest wait time. That risk may not be worth it!

Our best assumption is that people are making it their first ride when they park hop in from another park, or they make it their last ride before they then grab lunch and park hop elsewhere.

We were expecting Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run to have the highest wait, as yesterday was the first day of the new missions debuting in both Hollywood Studios and Disneyland, but alas, the highest wait time was Tower of Terror at 80 minutes, very likely due to half the ride being down. How do we know this? Well, the ride went from having a 13 minute wait (a walk-on) the hour prior, then dropped to 45 minutes two hours after its highest wait. We think the adjustments to Millennium Falcon will make it a much more popular ride, but is it possible we’ll see a slow build to it? It’s possible!
