The Disney Outfit Formula That Kept Us Comfortable All Day

When you’re heading to Disney World in the summertime, you’re likely caught between wanting to make sure you dress comfortably for the season, but also not wear anything that may make you feel too warm.

What does your Disney wardrobe for summer look like?

Fortunately, we’ve got reporters in the park every single day, all throughout the summer, and other members of our team (like myself) take trips frequently, so we feel like we’ve got outfits down pretty well. If you’re looking for suggestions, we polled our team and asked how everyone makes their own ideal summer outfit!

For me personally, I love wearing flowy dresses and skirts into the parks, but it’s ESSENTIAL I have shorts on underneath. To be clear, they have to be shorts that are long enough to cover at least half my thigh and avoid chafing, so the Reamphy 3 Pack Slip Shorts are perfect.

This pack comes with a beige, white, and black pair, allowing options if you’re worried what you’re wearing might show them a bit. You can also order other packs that have all one color, if that’s what you prefer!

I’m also a BIG fan of wearing leggings in the park, yes, even when it’s hot. That way, I’m not worried about my legs burning OR chafing, and I often find I don’t sweat as much on my legs than I do on my arms or torso. My new favorite style are the leggings with flared bottoms that criss cross at the top, which is why the Sunzel Flare Leggings are some of my absolute favs.

The best part is that they’re also available in TONS of different colors, so if you love the fit and look and want more colors than just black, they’ve got you covered. I’m embarrassed to admit how many of these are in my closet and how many MORE I want.

If I am wearing shorts into the parks, or something that I’m concerned will cause some chafing, the Megababe Thigh Rescue Anti-Chafe Stick is always in my bag! I don’t just mean my bag back at the hotel, either — no, it’s IN my park bag!

As you continue to sweat, sit down on ride vehicles, and move throughout the day, you’ll need to reapply it. TRUST ME you don’t want to apply it once and then forget about it the rest of the day — it HURTS and it’s not worth it. Since it’s a bit greasy though, if you’re concerned about it getting on other things in your bag, I recommend putting it in a ziplock bag!

Love the style of yoga pants but don’t want to wear actual pants, and you’re not as concerned about chafing? Look no further than these High Waist Yoga Shorts!

These also come in tons of different colors, they have POCKETS (big deal), and my coworkers rave about this style so much, I’ve honestly thought about getting some myself. I think writing this post has convinced me, so if you don’t mind, I’ll be running to Amazon right after I finish writing this post.

What to pair with those shorts though? My coworkers say that a big T-shirt, like the Cinderella Vintage Movie Box Art Poster T-Shirt is beyond perfect, and I see what they mean!

Any Disney shirt (or really, any shirt you like, you do you) is great, and I know EXACTLY what big Disney shirt I’d pick out of my closet to wear with it, but this one also might have to join my collection. Especially in Disney’s Hollywood Studios? Iconic!

Listen, I am a SUCKER for cute skirts, especially those with shorts built in, and these Layered Ruffle Flowy Tennis Golf Skorts are absolutely adorable!

These skirts come in a three pack with multiple collections of colors available, so you’re bound to find one you’ll love. Plus, they’re long enough to not make you feel like one gust of wind will reveal the shorts underneath (though, if it happens, that’s why they’re there!).

One of my coworkers mentioned something that I didn’t even know existed, and it may have just changed my whole world. The sun is BRIGHT and HOT during the summer, and sometimes it feels like no matter how much sunscreen you put on, you’re gonna burn. I don’t even burn that easily, but during summer? It’ll happen. The Sun Bum Cool Down Aloe Vera Spray is a great way to help with that!

If you’ve gotten a sunburn, or you’re worried one is forming, having this in the parks can be a great way to help cool it down almost instantly. This is especially great to put on at night before you sleep to help your skin heal overnight, but if you’ve gotten a pretty bad burn earlier in the trip and you’re worried it’ll flare up in the parks, we recommend bringing it with you as well.

When you’re walking in the hot sun, even if you’ve absolutely slathered on deodorant, you may still find yourself feeling a little self-conscious or concerned. My coworkers recommend the Secret Cooling Aluminum Free Whole Body Deodorant Mist!

Not only is this an odor protectant, but it’s also made to instantly cool your skin by about 10 degrees Fahrenheit, which is a BIG deal when it’s a hot day. It’s like doing two jobs in one bottle, which I think is really neat.
