So it’s no secret that the holidays can be a very busy time in Disney World. We often see crowds on long holiday weekends, and that’s usually the case with Thanksgiving, which was yesterday.
Well, we were in the parks yesterday, and the crowds weren’t as wild as we expected. But even more odd is that if you rope dropped the parks on Thanksgiving morning, you were looking at some pretty low wait times.
Yesterday at rope drop in Magic Kingdom, one of the park’s most popular rides, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, only had a wait of 40 minutes. Of course, later in that day, the ride’s wait did get up to as high as 80 minutes, but that’s still a lot lower than we would have expected for a holiday.
In EPCOT, Frozen Ever After was only 30 minutes at rope drop, which is a pretty low wait time for that ride. It, too, saw higher waits as the day progressed. It seems like a lot of folks might have slept in on Thanksgiving Day.
Our best advice if you’re visiting Disney World on a holiday is to rope drop if you can or even take advantage of Early Theme Park Entry, which is available to Disney and Good Neighbor hotel guests. You’ll end up being able to knock a lot of rides out early before the crowds arrive.
