During Hurricane Season, You NEED A Backup Plan in Disney World — Here’s Proof As To Why

Listen, we’ve seen so many times how storms affect Disney World days pretty intensely (I’ve been there too many times myself), but this is proof that during Florida’s rainy season, you’ve gotta prepare for the worst sometimes.

It’s officially hurricane season in Florida, and that means that it’s the time of year when you see a lot of outdoor Disney rides go down during intense storms. We talk all the time about having a backup plan, and when days like THIS happen in the parks, it’s proof you should never go to the parks without one.

Let’s take a look at the wait times for Monday, August 18th, 2025.

Magic Kingdom

TRON Lightcycle / Run had the highest wait time of 90 minutes close to the end of the day, confirming that now the WORST time to ride this attraction if you want to avoid long waits is right at the end of the day (when it’s dark out). The park also had a BAD day when it came to closures, with Space Mountain closing for a total of four hours, and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh didn’t do much better. Storms also caused all outdoor attractions to close for three hours straight later in the day, so overall, if you were in this park yesterday…we’re so sorry.

EPCOT also had a truly awful day in terms of ride closures. Test Track closed for four hours total, contributing to it hitting the highest wait time of 120 minutes during the last hour of the day. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure also closed for three hours, and Spaceship Earth, Mission: SPACE, Gran Fiesta Tour, and Living With The Land all had ride issues as well.
