Why You Shouldn’t Bother Rope Dropping This Ride in EPCOT

Okay, let’s talk rope dropping strategies at EPCOT.

Do you have an EPCOT rope drop strategy? It’s likely that you’d be inclined to hit the most popular rides first, right? That means you’ll be booking it to World Showcase to visit the Norway Pavilion and ride Frozen Ever After, as well as the France Pavilion to ride Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. However, one of those rides is often closed at rope drop, so you could be wasting your valuable morning time. ​

For example, let’s take a look at the ride closures in Disney World for yesterday, June 26th. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, which does seem to close often, was closed at park open (so you couldn’t rope drop it) through noon. So anyone wanting to rope drop that ride was pretty disappointed when they made their way to the France Pavilion yesterday.

If you do find yourself in EPCOT and want to rope drop, be sure to keep an eye on the My Disney Experience app. The app will not only let you know what ride wait times are, but it will also show if a ride is temporarily closed. Then you can just keep an eye on the app to catch when the ride reopens (and often, if you catch that reopening early enough, you might get to ride it with a shorter wait than normal).

One thing we’ve also noticed is that wait times do tend to dip a little lower in the evenings, so sometimes waiting it out is best. However, you can also skip the standby line by purchasing Genie+ (soon to be Lightning Lane Multi-Pass) and use the ride’s Lightning Lane for a shorter wait.
