Why Rope Drop Should Be Your Friend in Disney World

Well, it’s time to look at wait times in Disney World again, but are they showing signs of a decrease?

Well, the answer might surprise you — wait times ARE a little down this week from where they were previously. That doesn’t necessarily mean we’re having a slow season, but standby lines right now seem a little more doable. However, waits for popular rides do tend to be higher, as usual.

So if you’re wanting to ride those more popular rides like Flight of Passage, Rise of the Resistance, Tower of Terror, and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, you’ll want to consider paying extra for the privilege, either through Genie+ or the Individual Lightning Lane option for those rides that offer that.

Another option, though, is to be at the parks early — most rides have relatively lower wait times at rope drop. If you’re staying at a Disney World hotel, be sure to get there early enough for Early Theme Park Entry — you’ll be able to knock out some of your must-do rides quickly! Guests at Disney World deluxe hotels also have access to Extended Evening Hours, when wait times are generally lower.
