VIDEO: Update on Cotino, Disney’s New Residential Community

Would you live in a Disney community? Not just a neighborhood of Disney fans, but an actual community designed by Disney?

Disney thinks plenty of people would, which inspired their Storyliving by Disney project.

In early 2022, Disney announced they had plans to create “vibrant new neighborhoods that are infused with our special brand of magic” which then became Storyliving by Disney. They chose their first location, Rancho Mirage, California, and gave their community a new name: Cotino. Initially, the only information we had was a rough timeline and some concept art. The last time we received any major update was last summer, but all of that changed!

Disney recently released a video showing a little bit of the area where Cotino will be, and showed Imagineers meeting at sunrise to paint the scenery and gather inspiration for the future community. The video also showed some images of construction and site development. We can now start to see a rough layout of the neighborhood!

They also shared concept art for what appears to be the main sales area, where potential future residents can meet with the staff to learn about the community.

The video ends with some exciting news: they are expecting to begin sales this year! This follows their original timeline where they projected sales to start in early 2023, with the first residents moving in by 2024. You can check out the full video for yourself here:
