Sometimes, Disney World ride wait times are just high. It’s a popular ride, you’re in the middle of the summer season with lots of families around – it’s just how it is!
BUT! The keyword here is BUT, because there are some times when those high wait times are actually a sign of another problem, one that’s making the line longer than it normally would be. We normally see this happen with Tower of Terror, because it’s pretty common to see half of the ride go down for a few hours, then come back up later, but now we just watched it happen with Flight of Passage as well. If you notice a normally 80 minute wait suddenly jump to 160 minutes, please do us a favor and DON’T get in line right then!
Let’s take a look at wait times from Saturday, May 30th.
Magic Kingdom
TRON Lightcycle / Run hit an 80 minute wait at the very end of the day, so it does look like most people are preferring to ride this ride at night, or make it their last one of the day — keep that in mind if you’re trying to avoid longer lines! We are a little concerned to see that Prince Charming Regal Carrousel closed for five hours in a row though — that’s certainly not a regular fireworks closure, so we’ll keep a close eye on it.

Test Track hit a 120 minute wait right in the middle of the day, so it seems that most people decided they wanted to ride instead of eat lunch, or they chose to eat earlier or later than your typical lunch time (not a bad idea when it comes to avoiding long lines at restaurants). Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind wasn’t far behind though with a 115 minute wait, so clearly, these are the front-runner attractions in this park, and likely will be for some time.

This was either due to people rushing to the attraction, or half of it going down, lowering capacity for an hour. Whatever the reason, if you see the wait time THIS high, we recommend just waiting a few hours — it’ll go down!

Twilight Zone Tower of Terror beat out Slinky Dog Dash by just five minutes, hitting 85 minutes towards the end of the day. However, it’s very likely this higher wait was also due to half of the ride malfunctioning, as it dropped down to just a 40 minute wait by the next hour. Again, if you see a wait time totally jump like this, we highly recommend skipping it for the time being, and coming back later.
