Why You Should Stay Late at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Of Disney World’s four theme parks, Disney’s Animal Kingdom is probably the most underrated. Now, we get that it doesn’t help with part of the park under construction, along with the closures of several rides and restaurants.

A lot of people also seem to be treating Animal Kingdom like a half-day park, visiting it early in the morning, rather than in the afternoon (probably because it closes so early).  However, this strategy might be a mistake…and we’re going to tell you why.

Animal Kingdom opens early, so if you want to rope drop, you’ll have to get up pretty early. Here’s the thing, though: you don’t really need to do that. In fact, we might recommend sleeping in and heading to Animal Kingdom later. This might seem like it defeats the purpose with Animal Kingdom closing early, but you’ll accomplish more in an afternoon in Animal Kingdom right now than you could accomplish in the morning.

That’s because the longest wait times are generally in the morning, with wait times going down in the afternoon, with wait times. For example, the park’s most popular ride, Flight of Passage had a standby wait time yesterday of 45 minutes right up until about noon. Then the wait time fluctuates, but the averages is around 30 minutes. By 4 PM, the wait is only 15 minutes, and it only goes up a little over that for the rest of the day.

This means that you wouldn’t need to buy the Lightning Lane Single Pass to get a short line because the regular line is so short. It’s a good strategy to keep in mind for Animal Kingdom, at least for now. Arrive later…stay later.
