Crowd levels are HIGH right now in Disney World, and they’re just getting more and more intense leading up to New Year’s Eve!
Not only are wait times already high with everyone in the parks, but it gets worse when multiple attractions close throughout the day. With the exception of one park, it appears that Disney World is struggling pretty heavily with rides going down, causing wait times to soar even higher.
If you visited Disney’s Animal Kingdom on December 28th, you probably faced some HIGH wait times. It didn’t help that Expedition Everest, one of the most popular rides in the park, was closed for the day. Disney even sent a message to visitors via the My Disney Experience app to apologize for the closure.
Here’s a full look at the Disney World wait times on December 28th, 2024.
Magic Kingdom
Tron Lightcycle / Run had the highest wait time of 115 minutes, which certainly wasn’t a surprise to us. What was surprising, however, was how many attractions had major issues yesterday! Pirates of the Caribbean, the PeopleMover, Space Mountain, Under The Sea Journey of the Little Mermaid, Price Charming Regal Carrousel, AND Jingle Cruise were all down throughout the day, some of them for hours at a time.

We don’t know WHAT happened in Hollywood Studios, but it resulted in Toy Story Mania having a 205-minute wait when NO other rides were closed! Disney’s Hollywood Studios actually didn’t struggle with any ride closures at all, which is impressive but makes us even more curious as to why these wait times were so high.

Wait times said through the app are always inaccurate. Having spent the 28th through the 1st at disnay, I can say for certain you almost always wait an extra 10% more than what it says, and often longer.
Spent 140 minutes waiting for tron (thanks lightning lane users being prioratized)
Around 200 hours for pandoras flight of passage.
(Line was still growing when I hopped in too)
And easily an hour here or there during mid day wait times.
However, less popular attractions tend to fall to 15 minutes and bellow within the last few hours of park operations.
Final note, be sure to stay on top of the digital que for the guardians of the galaxy ride and bog adventure water ride.
Guardians que filled with 2 seconds at 7AM, and 3 seconds at 1PM during the fullest days.
Though it seems lightning lane users don’t have to play the lottery system… thanks again for that.
Eas able to secure spots for both on my last day (the 1st) though, so thankfully could cross those last few rides off the list before the trip was over.
