Disney’s Hollywood Studios is inviting guests to see a brand-new show on May 27th, and we’re so excited!

In just under a weeks time, we’ll be getting the debut of Disney’s first show featuring their iconic villains. With it being mere days away, Disney has finally given us an all-new SNEAK PEEK — and we’re going to share it with you, so “be prepared”.
The time is almost here for the brand-new show, “Villains: Unfairly Ever After”. The villains have found at home at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and they are here to stay. They will be taking over the spot where the Lightning McQueen Racing Academy used to be. Oh Lightning, that poor unfortunate soul!

The show will feature the iconic Magic Mirror from the Disney animated classic Snow White. He will summon some of your favorite Disney Villains and explain to us why we’ve come to misunderstand them. The show will include classic characters like Captain Hook, Cruella de Vil, and Maleficent. If you were wondering, we’re thrilled to add that they will even do live performances.

So far, all we’ve gotten has been concept art and announcements regarding the new show. We haven’t gotten any live footage, update, sneak peek, or anything — until TODAY! We were able to see the full show as part of a Cast Member preview. Take a look!

The first thing that struck us about this transformed space is just how different it looks inside! The metal benches with no backs have been replaced with themed theater-style seating, which added to the overall dark, relaxing, and mysterious vibe (the AC here was also a huge plus!).

The fog effects and eerie music make the stage look just as we imagined it in the concept art Disney had previously released, which not only matched but exceeded our expectations as we took our seats. Although the curtains down make the stage area look small, you’ll find hidden Disney Villains tucked into the design of the curtains, and we had fun before the show started, attempting to point them all out. The curtains are surrounded by broken mirrors, all hung at different angles from each other and hinged windows.

The show blew us away, and quite honestly, we were glued to the edges of our seats for this one! Not only is the show giving Disney Villain fans everything they could ask for in a live stage show, but they do it in such a fun, immersive, and interactive way through the use of live performers, screens, and wicked songs.

Ah, the songs! They’re reimagined versions of each Disney Villain’s classic tunes turned just enough to fit their unfair situations. The lively use of screens really impressed us, too! Normally, when we think of screens on stage, a static backdrop tends to come to mind, but not with this show!

Everything on the stage has an element of playful purpose to the show and some even have the ability to move with the performers!

As for the interactive elements to the show, just as Disney had previously mentioned, you’ll collectively have an opportunity to vote for which Disney Villain was most unfairly treated, and you may get a different featured Villain and show ending based on your response! The choices you might have to choose from will include Captain Hook, Maleficent…

…and Cruella, to name a few.

Expecting a few more fiendish friends? This show’s got them all! We also spotted The Evil Queen…

…Hades (yes, his hair glows)…

…Jafar…

…and so many more to count!
While the runtime is a bit shorter than what we would like, it’s only a disappointment because we were having so much fun watching these iconic Disney Villains being brought to life right in front of us. You can expect ample opportunities to choose a showtime each day to see a performance, but we strongly urge you to arrive early because the theater could (and most likely will) fill up quickly.

We’re thrilled we had the opportunity to be among some of the first to see this new show during its exclusive previews, and this first look has left us craving MORE!
We cannot wait for this new show. We’ll be starting our countdown to the beginning of next week to watch this performance. The show will officially debuton Tuesday, May 27th. To stay up to date on all the latest news and updates, be sure to follow us at AllEars!
