These 5 Major Hollywood Studios Changes Are Happening Sooner Than You Think

Hollywood Studios will be seeing so many changes in the future, and some are happening even sooner than you think!

Some of these changes excite Disney fans, and others not so much. Let’s see what’s going to be happening with Hollywood Studios even sooner than you may realize.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios will eventually be home to Monsters, Inc. Land! Mosntropolis will be taking over Muppets Courtyard, and although Monstropolis won’t be opening for a while, we do know when Muppets Courtyard will go.

A new land themed to Pixar Animation Studios’ “Monsters, Inc.” is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Taking place after the events of the film, Monstropolis need humans’ laughter to power the city. Guests can even ride on a door like Mike and Sully in the iconic scene from the film with Disney’s first-ever suspended coaster.

The area will close in phases, starting with Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano as they permanently close their doors on May 11th, 2025. The last day to dine at the Italian table service restaurant will be May 10th, 2025. It’s coming up fast!

PizzeRizzo and the beloved Muppet Vision 3D will soon follow and close for good. According to Disney, the last day to watch Muppet Vision 3D or grab your pizza at the quick service location will be on June 7th. We are expecting that construction walls will be going up on June 8th. Light the lights with The Muppets one last time before it closes in a couple months.

On May 27th, Hollywood Studios will be treating fans to not one but TWO new shows! We’ll be able to watch the eerie Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After show, as well as the debut of  The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure.

The villain show will be going where the old Lightning McQueen Racing Academy was. In the show the Magic Mirror will summon some of your favorite Disney Villains and explain why we’ve misunderstood them. The show will include characters like Captain Hook, Cruella de Vil, and Maleficent — where they will even do live performances.

On the other end, after five long years of closure, “Voyage of the Little Mermaid” at the Animation Courtyard Theater will be transformed into a new Little Mermaid show! The show will “feature stunning new set pieces, cutting-edge effects, and a bold new design that captures Ariel’s imagination and emotions through her unique view of the world around her” per Disney. We can’t wait to be part of that world!

Now let’s talk night time spectacular, because it looks like there’s a minor change happening with Fantasmic! — the fan favorite show that takes you on a journey through Mickey’s imagination. The show involves fireworks, water and lighting effects, live performances and stunts, and even a dragon. Fatasmic! runs two shows on most nights, however when you look ahead on Disney’s showtime calendar, it looks like that’s changing.

Fantasmic!

Starting April 20th there will only be one showing of Fantasmic per night on weekdays, instead of two. Weekends will still have two showings. So, you might want to plan accordingly for your next Disney trip!

This is MY Dream!

Speaking of night time, Disney’s Hollywood Studios After Hours are going on for a limited time. They started on January 22nd, but will only be going till September 3rd. It’s still a decent ways away, but something to be aware of. At least guests will be able to take advantage of the special extra park hours during the summer!

This isn’t happening soon, but there’s something you should keep an eye on at Galaxy’s Edge! The next Star Wars movie to come out will be The Mandalorian and Grogu, which will hit theaters on May 22nd, 2026. The movie is going to introduce a lot of new characters, including BDX Droids. We’ll be able to get a early look at them IN PERSON, at Hollywood Studio’s Galaxy’s Edge. We don’t have an exact date when we’ll see these little guys, but it should be later this year.

Now let’s talk Mando! The next adventure with the bounty hunter and the child won’t just take place on the big screen, it’s also coming to the Park. Hollywood Studio’s Millennium Falcon Smugglers Run will see a new mission, featuring the Mandalorian and Grogu. It will arrive at the attraction on May 22nd, 2026 — the same day as the movie debut!

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run attractions at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort are being updated with a new Mando and Grogu mission, launching Memorial Day Weekend 2026.

We’re going to keep an eye out for more updates and news on these changes. Get ready to experience all the new stuff, but also say bye to some of your favorite things. Stay tuned to AllEars for all the latest on Disney news and more.

  1. I DON’T like the idea of “MuppetVision 3D” closing. It’s such a sweet, funny and entertaining attraction. For the “powers that be” to close it is a terrible decision.|
