We were pretty stoked to have the opportunity to recently set sail on Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, the Disney Adventure, which is the first Disney ship to sail out of Singapore.

However, the Disney Adventure seems to be having a rough go of things recently, and now, a sailing on the ship has been canceled due to a mechanical issue, according to The Straits Times.
The Disney Adventure was scheduled to leave for a five-day, four-night cruise starting on May 7th from Marina Bay Cruise Centre in Singapore. However, the cruise did not set sail on time. Although passengers waited overnight for the ship to set sail, they were told to disembark on May 8th due to a mechanical issue that resulted in the sailing’s cancellation.

A Disney spokesperson did comment that the ship’s sailing was canceled because the crew was still working on the mechanical issue, stating, “We apologise to our guests and are working with them directly to provide support for their travel needs.”

Passengers were informed on May 8th at around 2:30 PM that the cruise was canceled. They were then ordered to disembark over the next few hours. However, up to that point, the ship operated as usual, with food and entertainment provided as normal.

Note that this is something that can happen when you take a Disney Cruise, although it doesn’t happen often. However, guests were told they would receive a full refund for their cruise, including unused portions of their prepaid packages for services like Wi-Fi, beverage packages, and photography. While still on board, guests were also given complimentary Wi-Fi access.

Guests were also given a one-night stay in a Singapore hotel with transfer and up to $500 USD for each stateroom booked to cover other costs guests faced due to the cancellation. Flight change fees were also covered for those who traveled from outside Singapore. Guests will also receive a 50% off discount for their next Disney Cruise.

We’re not saying you should be expecting a cancellation like this, but it does happen occasionally, so you should have a backup plan in place, just in case. We’ve also seen cruises canceled due to weather, such as hurricanes, so this isn’t something that just happens on the Disney Adventure. However, if you do end up on a canceled cruise, Disney will make amends in some way or another.
We’ll keep an eye out for more Disney Cruise Line news, so check back with AllEars again soon for more.
