NEWS: 'Toy Story 5' Casts Conan O'Brien as NEW Character

Legendary comedian Conan O’Brien has been cast as the voice of a new character in Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 5, releasing in theaters next year.

O’Brien’s character, Smarty Pants, will join Woody, Buzz, Jessie, and the rest of the gang in the fifth installment of this franchise.

Toy Story 5 is set to premiere in theaters on June 19th, 2026, and Conan O’Brien will be making his debut in the franchise as well. In the new film, the toys’ jobs are challenged after they face a new threat: electronics.

Oscar-winning filmmaker Andrew Stanton will direct with McKenna Harris as well. Jessica Choi is set to produce.

O’Brien shared the news on his TeamCoco social media, and joked that he initially wanted to play the role of Woody or Buzz Lightyear (who are voiced by Tom Hanks and Tim Allen), but changed his mind when he realized that Smarty Pants is “the best character of them all.”

The film features our favorite toys back in action after the events of Toy Story 4, where the toys part and go their separate ways. Tim Allen and Tom Hanks are back, reprising their roles as Buzz and Woody, respectively.

The new movie focuses on Buzz, Woody, and all of their friends as they go head to head with kids’ new favorite toys — electronics! Pixar executives have also teased that the new movie will be “surprising,” so we are eager to hear more as we get closer to the film’s release.
