Are you planning a trip to Disney World soon?

Now, we can all agree that Disney World is known for being “the most magical place on earth,” but for many of you, with all the changes that have been happening at Disney World (and the ones yet to come), the magic is starting to feel a little dimmer. To that point, we thought we’d reach out to you and get your takes.
We reached out to our followers on Facebook and Instagram to ask: “What Disney World changes are you SICK of seeing?” We had quite a few people leave their opinions in the comments!

Now, let’s go over some of your top responses!
Price Increases Without the Perks
This was, unsurprisingly, one of the biggest complaints. Our reader Rachel summed it up perfectly when she said, “I know everyone is saying price increases, but it’s not just that the prices are increasing, it’s that the benefits are lowering.”

Rachel pointed out what a lot of Disney fans have been feeling: the prices wouldn’t hurt so much if the experience was still top-notch. But with fewer perks, like the removal of Magical Express and free FastPasses, many guests feel they’re being “nickel and dimed.” She added, “The whole lightning lane debacle. It just feels like nickel and diming at this point. They don’t take care of their staff in the same way, so the cleanliness and customer service has gone down.”

Disney’s reputation for immaculate parks and legendary customer service has been a key part of its magic for decades, but according to a lot of you, that reputation is faltering, and it’s leaving a sour taste in your mouths.
The Constant Reliance on Phones
Several of you were vocal about how much the new systems rely on constant phone use. For many, the days of strolling the parks and soaking in the atmosphere are gone.

To that point, Teresa shared, “Having to spend my whole time on my phone takes away from everything. It is no longer magical at all.” Robert agreed, adding, “The ride line changes.. kills the moment.. go back to just grabbing a fast pass at the kiosk.. or you know, waiting in regular line. This current nonsense keeps you on your phone and not simply enjoying being there.”

Many of you miss the simplicity of the old FastPass system, where you could grab a pass at a kiosk and move on. But, nowadays, we’re all glued to our screens, managing Lightning Lanes, mobile food orders, and virtual queues.
Losing the Magic of Originality
A number of you lamented what you see as the decline of Disney’s creativity and unique charm. For example, Rachel expressed this beautifully: “The loss of Disney’s magic of originality in the parks.”

What does she mean? In part, it’s about the focus on re-theming existing rides instead of creating new ones. As Brian said, “They need to maintain the rides they have but push the size of the parks out and build more rides. I am sick of them taking existing rides and just retheming them. Not only does that take the ride down for a long time it doesn’t absorb more of the ever-increasing crowds when it comes back up.”

This approach not only reduces the parks’ capacity to handle crowds, but it also feels like a shortcut compared to all the groundbreaking creativity Disney used to be known for.
Charging for Previously Free Perks
Another major complaint was Disney’s tendency to add charges for services that used to be free. Wendi-Ann pointed this out, saying, “Charging for things that used to be free has really taken away from the experience.”

From parking fees to Lightning Lane replacing FastPass, guests feel like they’re paying more for less, and for many, that’s the deal-breaker.

Overcrowding…even the making reservations was a joke. With Overcrowding the wait times have ballooned. Disney has built so many extra hotels over the years. The parks have not expanded. It’s just not “Magical” anymore…
December 23rd, my wife and I paid our 1st visit to the Magic Kingdom since 2005. What a complete rip off, from the extortionate entry fee to the farcical”Preferred parking”. Having to book a meal via an App, Disney management should be ashamed. Walt Disney is most definitely turning in his grave. I brought my family here on a few occasions between 1992 and 2005, Multi park, multi day tickets, spent plenty in the gift shops in the parks,I could not dream of doing the same today.
I agree with all the above. The crowds, phones, and hectic feel takes away the magic
Also you spend 6-8 hours a day waiting in lines for a bus, food or the rides.
What’s gone is what was “The Disney Difference” it started with the demise of the Magical Express, Mears Connect is a pale inferior replacement. Once the Disney branding came off the buses the quality plummeted as Mears doesn’t have what used to be the high bar that Disney clearly held them to when they were “paying” for the DME experience. The yellow tags and resort check in are also a thing of the past. The Bean Counters are in control now and they have made everything a revenue stream. We were fortunate enough to buy into DVC 15 years ago, if we didn’t have that hedge to help keep our vacation expenses down, I don’t think we’d visit as often as we do. Today we go to enjoy the resorts and dining and the cast members we’ve befriended over the years. It’s sad because the expense is killing future generations of Disney Fans. But hey as long as Disney gets that return on value for shareholders vs building customer loyalty it appears Disney will squeeze the last drop of joy out of guests who will eventually move on to other options. Walt would be horrified by today’s WDW.
Rude, obnoxious guest who only care about themselves and not the people around them
