There are busy times of the year at Disney World, and there are BUSY times of the year at Disney World. We know some months are always going to be busy (we’re looking at you, November and December), but why is August this year so jam-packed?

A lot of events are coming to Disney World this August, and while we’re excited for the fun, if you were looking to visit for other reasons, you might want to come a different month. Let’s take a peek at the biggest events coming to Disney World!
The first huge event happening is Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party starting. You can grab tickets for this after-hours event for select nights between August 15th and October 31st.

While there are three months to enjoy seeing incredible parades, fireworks shows, and our favorite characters in the most adorable Halloween costumes, guests love to come on the first few nights of the event.

If you want to snag specialty souvenirs and don’t want to worry about them selling out, you’ll want to come on the first night to secure them. We often see this with popcorn buckets!

The next thing happening this August is the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival! It runs from August 28th to November 22nd and is one of the most popular festivals.

Similarly to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary, people love to arrive early to grab the special merchandise, but also enjoy the food as soon as possible. One returning collection coming to the festival is the Muppet Lab Collection, and trust us, if it features Muppets, it’s going to sell out fast.

With EPCOT festivals, it’s so hard to wait all year until you can get your hands on your favorite food. There are some foods we think about all year round and impatiently wait until we can dive in. Why wait when you can go with a park ticket?

What else is happening during that weekend? Disney’s Destination D23 is coming to Disney World! This event takes place from August 29th to 31st, and Disney fans from all over come to visit and hear new announcements about movies, parks, and everything Disney.

D23 alternates between Anaheim and Orlando, so you’ll find that guests who usually go to Disneyland want to enjoy their East Coast counterparts. The parks are always busier as visitors take the opportunity to see attractions they don’t have at Disneyland.

Let’s take a closer look at those opening dates:
-
- August 15th — Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party
- August 28th — EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival
- August 29th — Destination D23
That’s a lot happening at the end of August! If you’re looking for quieter times to visit next month, consider coming at the beginning of the month.
